  • Why can't we eat Velveeta Cheese?

    That stuff is soooo good but my mother-in-law said we can't have it. Anyone know why?

    Because it's not cheese. Did you know that the long rectangular box it comes in doesn't even have to be refrigerated before it's opened? Anyway, it's a no-no because of the fillers. Try real cheese. It tastes better anyway.

      Velveeta Ingredients: MILK, WATER, MILKFAT, WHEY, WHEY PROTEIN CONCENTRATE, SODIUM PHOSPHATE, MILK PROTEIN CONCENTRATE, ALGINATE, SODIUM CITRATE, APOCAROTENAL (COLOR), ANNATTO (COLOR), ENZYMES, CHEESE CULTURE.

        Kelly, I know, I was bummed at first too. I had a couple great recipes that called for Velveeta. Put it off til later, if you have to have it. You may find you won't miss it at all though!

            Actually the sugar isn't added sugar or it would show up in the ingredients. Its most likely naturally occurring sugar from the Milk.

                There are tons of fantastic natural cheeses!

                Honestly, it won't be long before you can't fathom putting that nasty over-processed stuff in your mouth

                    "Processed Cheese FOOD"

                    If they have to specify that yes, indeed, it is food...it's bad news.

                          Me too...and I got some Rembrandt brand from Wild Oats and that stuff was so smooth and creamy. Now I'm going to have to go into Tampa tomorrow to get some more. Yum.

                              This week I bought some Danish Havarti with dill from Sam's and tried it on scrambled eggs... wowzers it's nummy! Gouda... gotta go back, get some gouda, too...
