Ok.. so I know we're not supposed to have caffeine, so my normal coffee is out. Here's my dilemma... I have to work graveyard shift tonight (11pm - 8am) and I know I'm gonna need something to keep me awake. Is sugar-free red bull okay? It has no caffeine in it, and no sugar, so... yes or no?

Re: sugar free red bull
Ok, you know, I drink strong coffee with Splenda and cream every morning and have done so all through my weightloss. So I would give you permission to drink coffee (please don't throw tomatoes at me folks!). Not even Dr. Atkins would have been able to pry my coffee cup from my hands.
So, in lieu of that, I would think Diet Red Bull to be ok.

Re: sugar free red bull
This may get me yelled at on here, but I would say that carb-count wise a cup of strong coffee is better than SF Red Bull. A mug full has about 1 g carb, but of course it goes a little higher with heavy cream or Splenda in it.

Re: sugar free red bull
I would say go for the coffee over all that crap you can't pronounce!
I never gave up my 1 cup a day.
As well, my Iced coffee on a very hot day I love!
If you can't pronounce it don't eat it....that's my mottoMake it a happy low carb life!

Re: sugar free red bull
I had no idea Red Bull was caffeine-free... So what chemical is in it that makes my hair stand up straight when I drink it???

When I lost 40 lbs on Atkins this last time I'm afraid I did drink coffee, and I don't mean just a little. As a teacher I often wanted an i.v. drip of coffee just to get through first hour 8th graders. ROFL

Re: sugar free red bull
It is NOT caffeine free as stated in the first post! If you go back and read the ingredients list that GMom posted it clearly states that it contains caffeine.Originally posted by Suzanne_HI had no idea Red Bull was caffeine-free... Re: sugar free red bull
Having been on vacation last week, my primary "cheat" was a LOT of Vault Zero and a few other sugar free no- or very low-carb energy drinks. I learned my lesson the hard way, after several cans my first day; I was exhausted from lack of sleep but could not rest, felt jittery & punchy for many hours.
1. read label before drinking & count any carbs. 2. Realize that not only caffeine but also guarana seed, taurine, ginseng, niacin and mega-doses of B-vitamins are all potential stimulants, which often get combined in a single can. They can OD you in multiple quantities or in combination with regular coffee or certain supplements containing these ingredients, or stimulant products such as ephedra and other bronchodialators or Ritalin, Adderall, Phentermine, etc.
3. BE CAREFUL - they can spike your insulin, keep you up at night, and give you jitters!~Susan

Re: sugar free red bull
coffee and crystal light does not seem to hinder my weight loss when I'm going atkins 99.5%...I add and occasional diet red bull when I'm tired at work and bored with coffee...just be reasonable and if it slows down your loss...don't do it...you will figure out what does and doesn't stall you...go with it!!!
