  • Stating over, new to site

Hello, I am 29 years old, and new to this site. I have done atkins before for 1 month and lost an amazing 21 pounds, and got down to 191 pounds. Now several years later after low fat diets etc... my weight is 231. I know atkins works and I felt great doing it after the first 4 days. Can any one give me advice on getting started.

Hi Susu! Welcome to . Lots of support here at the board any time of day.

A good place to start is here on the "Second Time Around" forum. There are lots of stickeys at the top with a lot of really good information to get you on your way.

    I wish you success~

      Hi there!

      Welcome to the board.

Do you have the 2002 Atkins book? Such a great help and one that we refer to for the correct Atkins Diet way of eating

Definately join in the boards and fun!

      Best wishes on your journey!

Hi...Trust me....Re-read the book. I had done "Atkins" and lost 40 lbs only to put it back. I read the book ....cover to cover .... and lost 100lbs on Atkins 40 years ago. I've only handed 10 lbs back in that time (though I'm desperately trying to lose that too and more!!).

        READ THE BOOK!!!

My advice is to get rid of the junk food in your kitchen. Replace it with friendly foods right away, so that when you're hungry, you won't reach for something bad. On Sunday, cook a bunch of meat, prepare veggies, etc., so that you can just reach for them throughout the week.

Learn to drink the water. I use a straw to help suck it down faster.

Exercise (make yourself sweat) 30 minutes 4 - 5 times a week. Increase the intensity or duration every two weeks or so...so that you're always pushing yourself.
