  • Kickin' it in a whole new way!

    TAEBO style... this morning I can't believe it but I made it through the Taebo Live Basic 37 min. workout. I had to stop the dvd a couple times, pray, catch my breath, pray harder, hose myself off, call 911... then restart the dvd and CARRY ON but hey I made it start to finish. Also a couple weeks ago I started swimming laps as part of my workout and have built up to just over a quarter mile so far. For this former couch potato it's a huge change...

    What new exercise have you tried lately?

    Well done! It takes a lot of determination to turn around your exercise habits!

    I've changed mine too, and I've started walking a lot more. I used to pay $150 a month to park my car in the office parking lot, but I've recently started to park my car just outside the city, exactly 1.5 miles away, and walking to and from work. So that's 3 miles a day! Which is a start.

    I'm also walking on my days off, and as soon as I get my bike fixed I'll be cycling too

    And I've started my salsa dancing classes again! I did them earlier in the year and did really well with them, but then gave up (oops!) so I've started again, 3 or 4 times a week, and I'm also doing some basic weight training 3 times a week (only lightly though)

    So I'm becoming a lot more active! I'd love to start swimming but I don't have access to a pool right now, so I can't.

      The more you exercise the better it gets, I'm finding. While I used to circle parking lots waiting for a space right by an entrance, now I spend much less time on shopping trips, parking on lot perimeters and walking in. Also, returning the carts which I never did adds to the exercise. I park in the lowest garage levels, and climb the stairs to the office & back M-F, and go downstairs to take my supplements before going back up to wake my son in the morning. These aren't really new exercises, but they are easy ways to boost the amount of daily exercise. It really makes a difference when you spend 5 days a week sitting in a cubicle for 8 hours with a car ride before and after. I've also been doing chair exercises while sitting there, including stretching a resistance band, butt-clenches and armrest push-ups.
