    Are diet drinks such as Diet Mountain Dew bad for atkins? I drink a 2liter or more everyday. Horribly addicted to caffein lol. Im just wonderin cuz it didnt seem like it hindered my progress any last month. Lost 10+ lbs last month even though I went camping 2 times which I cheated and ate smores/captain morgans. So I uh pretty much took my body out of ketosis 2 times last week and still had that much weight loss even with the dew and cheats. Im goin for a 20 lb weight loss this month with no cheats.

    Yup, it's bad for you, bad, bad, bad.
    Look at the ingredient list.
    We're fat cos we picked up bad habits in life and drinking sugary sodas is one of them.
    I know it's diet, and an occassioanl one won't harm you, but 2 LITRES or more every day is a HUGE amount to be drinking.
    You're still wired to reach for sodas.
    Believe me, you gotta ditch all the sodas and switch to ice cold, refreshing water.
    It's the only way and in time you'll see that if you keep drinking diet soda at the rate you're going, it's extremely bad for you.

      Alrite... lol guess il lower down the amount of Mtn dew I drink then. The weird thing is from doing atkins in previous years I cant stand really sweet drinks like coke or diet coke stuff like that. Have a low tollerance for Extremely sweet things now too. This happen to u guys?

        Yeah, I was a total addict to all sugary drinks, thought I always would be but now I drink water almost exclusively and love it, sodas are way too sweet for me.

          Did you say 2 litres a day?!
          INGREDIENTS:
          Carbonated water, concentrated orange juice, citric acid, aspartame, potassium benzoate (preserves freshness), citrus pectin, potassium citrate, caffeine, gum arabic, natural flavors, brominated vegetable oil, yellow 5 and erythorbic acid (preserves freshness).

          Phenylketonurics: Contains phenylalanine.


          2 litre is around 148 mg of caffeine and 100 mg of sodium. If you're trying to stay within the recommended sweetener allowances you're at around 4-5 a day with 2 litres of dew.

          I'm not trying to attack you, i'm just wondering if you didn't realize the numbers.

            Get rid of the soda.

            For Atkins, caffeine is not allowed, nor is aspartame. Both are known weight loss stallers.

            Additionally, drinking that much soda will prevent you from drinking enough water.

            As a person who used to drink that much or more soda per day, it will be much better and healthier for your body to break the addiction.

            If you just need some flavor to drink occasionally, switch to decaff tea with a little Splenda.

              Alrite well uh no more buying mtn dew. Hopefully this will speed up the weight loss a bit.
