  • New clothes-size smaller than expected!

I just went shopping for clothes for my new job and could not believe what size I bought (are clothes sizes bigger now?).

Anyhoo, went straight to the tiny (why do they even bother) plus size section of Target and as usual, hated everything. Why are plus size clothes so ugly? I have an idea, but won't voice it.. So, I went to the missus section and to the clearance stuff.

I fell in love with lots of stuff and thought, well, I am only going to fit into a size 20, so this is going to be a monumental waste of time, but oh well. I grabbed some size 18 skirts and went to the dressing room.

Well, I stood there flabbergasted when the size 18 skirts bagged on me! WHAT? I am 230lbs for crying out loud! I ended up buying several skirts in a size 16! They fit perfectly. To be fair, I did buy a few size 18, since they fit a bit better, but most of what I bought was size 16.

Now, you might be thinking the skirts were elasticized, but NOPE! They are the non-elasticized, zip up the side kind, to the knee and flared.

I am in shock, really. What size will I wear when I am skinny?

The moral of the story is to go shopping! You may just be pleasantly surprised!

Congratulations! What an awesome feeling that must be. I was actually just talking about that topic to a coworker this morning....I asked how does one know when to buy a size smaller......LOL. I think I'm afraid to try a size smaller because the close I wear now is baggy on me and I'm afraid that if I try smaller it wont fit and I'll get upset......silly huh?

I'm really happy that you had such a great shopping moment.

            Oh, that is so AWESOME!

I made a fool out of myself crying in the dressing room when I was able to wear new 16's a little while ago. Small price to pay though, huh?

            yay for 16's!
No stats. Not weighing anymore ever. Will post "before and after" pictures when I want to. The end.

Thanks, you guys!!! I just had to share! @Lady: I might model some, but I fear the camera right now, because I don't want to jinx my happiness. I might not look as good as I feel in the photo and then I would feel down. But who know, maybe I will, we'll see!

G-Mom, this happened to me too. I am about the same weight as you and I got into some size 16s comfortably! I think it is because our bodies reshape on this way of eating. By the BMI figures I am still obese, yet I can walk for hours at 5km/ph without getting out of breath, and fit into size 16 clothes. What ever it is, I'm not arguing!

I'm still confused about weight, body shape and clothes sizes.....I read some threads/posts and people's sig lines....they are seemingly around the same size as me (some of them) but there is no way on this earth that I can fit into those sizes......

Are you doing anything for exercise Seshena? It makes a big difference! I weigh like 20 pounds more than I did last time I was in this size!

Yeah....I've been walking between 1.5 and 2.25 miles a day for..what...two weeks now....thats why last week I lost 10 pounds plus 11 inches....and I mix it up...I do that on the treadmill at the gym plus I'll throw in some ab crunches once or twice...then I'll do the step machine as well.....or whatever else pops into my head.....perhaps I need to do something different or maybe I just need to patient....I dont know...I was just wondering how that worked......

Seshena36, a friend of mine that weighed about 15 pounds less than me, our height was about the same (5'8"), but our body types are different. She carried more of her weight in her hips and thighs, and because of that wore a large size pants.
