  • Hi i am a newbie

    Hi there

My name is kim, I am 41 and I need to lose lots of weight, I have been on atkins for a week now, but I wont be weighing myself because I think that is dishearting, especially if you have not lost weight in one week, and not only that I would probably be on the scales every hour of the day lol.
For the first three days, headaches were really bad but that was the caffeine withdrawal, then the fourth day the pains in my legs bum lol, were excruciating and the feeling of weakness but sureal as well, its a good job i started atkins on my hols or i would of been a sleep most of the time lol, can anyone tell me if the symptoms above that i have mentioned are normal please, also my keotis sticks are purple have been from the 3rd day, and i now purchased loads of sweets choc barrs to keep me going, I will keep you all up to date n how i am doing

    Thanks

Re: Hi i am a newbie

Hi Kim, welcome! Good for you for starting a healthy way of losing weight. Congrats on making it through a week so far!

What kind of chocolate bars did you purchase? Most of us here on ADBB do not recommend using any low carb products as they are known to stall people and we don't really count them as Induction legal.

As for the weakness, it's a bit hard to tell for sure what might be causing that. Are you eating enough food, especially vegetables? Getting between 15-20 net carbs per day, mostly from veggies? Drinking enough water? Tracking what you eat in something like Fitday?

Post a menu either here or in the Review My Menu forum. It really helps to have the experts here check things out to make sure you are doing things right. That helped me TONS when I did induction.

If you have more than 100lbs to lose (or even if you don't) you might want to join our Century Club forum.

Good luck and keep us posted on how you are doing!

Re: Hi i am a newbie

Welcome, Kim! I'm sorry you have suffered from Induction flu. Are you taking a multi-vitamin and a calcium supplement? The tiredness is normal and will pass. The cramps in your legs could be due to quick electrolyte loss (sodium, potassium, calcium, etc). Some folks get this because the WOE (way of eating) has a diuretic effect and when you lose fluids super fast, you lose these very important electrolytes quickly as well. Please up your veggies and take the above vits. There is no reason to feel these cramps.

Now, about the choc bars. Please, NO BARS!!!! You are trying to break your sweet addiction and eating even low carb bars only prolongs this process. You may also stall. These bars are for folks on OWL or maintenance, not for you. Don't sabotage your efforts!

        Good luck to you!

        No Weigh Until Christmas Day!!!

Re: Hi i am a newbie

          HEY KIM,
I'M SOMEWHAT OF A NEWBIE TOO. I ALSO WENT THROUGH WITHDRAWL FROM ALL MY GOODIES. BUT I PROMISE IT WILL PASS (THOUGH DISCOURAGING). IN NO TIME YOU SHOULD SHOULD FEEL THIS BURST OF ENERGY OUT OF NOWHERE, ( ATLEAST THATS WHAT HAPPENED TO ME). I WOULDN'T BE SCARED TO TAKE A PEEK AT THE SCALE. I'M SURE YOU HAVE BEGUN YOUR WEIGHT-LOSS. AND IT WILL BE ENCOURAGING AND KEEP YOU GOING TO SEE THIS WOE IS WORKING. WATER IS DEFINATELY THE WAY TO GO. THOUGH YOU'LL LIVE ON THE POTTY.LOL AS FAR AS THE CHOCALATE BARS, I KNOW MANY OF YOU WILL DISAGREE WITH ME AND I APOLOGIZE FOR THIS IN ADVANCE, BUT THE CARB BARS DID AND STILL DO HELP ME STAY ON TRACK. ITS HARD TO GO COLD TURKEY. AND WITH THOSE AWESOME PEOPLE OUT THERE WHO INVENTED THESE BARS, WE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO. HOWEVER, I DO LIMIT MYSELF TO ONE A DAY. BELIEVE ME ITS ALL YOU WILL NEED TO CALM THE CRAVINGS. I STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT YOU DO NOT COMSUME MANY IN ONE DAY OR YOU WILL INDEED LIVE ON THE POTTY AND NOT BECAUSE OF OF WATER ( IF YOU KNOW WHAT I'M SAYING)!!!!!!.
WELL HEY ANYWAY, GOOD LUCK !! AND KEEP POSTING. I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO READING OF YOUR SUCCESS !!!!!
