I binged big time yesterday after 3 wks of induction. How much will it hurt my diet success? Do I need to start over?

Re: A total Binge!
Are you still in Induction? If so, pick up where you left off.
If you are in OWL or Pre-Maintenance, you'll need to see if you are still in ketosis. If you are, then pick up where you left off. If you aren't, drop to Induction for a few days to re-enter ketosis, then move back to your current OWL/Pre-Maintenance levels and rungs.
However, the most important thing you can do is to figure out what triggered your binge and figure out coping mechanisms to avoid binging in the future when similar stressors occur.~Megs~

Re: A total Binge!
OK, first, how bad was your "big time" binge.
Add up the carbs for the whole day. Now, how was your exercise before and after the binge. If it were well above normal, that will compensate for some of the extra carbs. You may still be in ketosis if your total unused carbs for the day was under 50; the fewer the better.
If you did take in enough to throw you back to ground zero, then try to get back in ketosis quickly with strict induction for a day or two, to minimize the transitional side effects. Drink PLENTY of water, and take in some extra aerobics.
In any case, try to learn from the experience, and "Just keep swimming...."~Susan

Re: A total Binge!
as Not2late said all will depend on oif you are in or out of ketossi. if you are out you do 2-4 days of induction eating and then move back to where you were before the binge. If you have a food journal now would be a good time to see whaT YOU ATE BEFORE THE BINGE started so you can test to see if it was a food trigger. soem legal foods trigger some folk like me and celery. As if you can remember who what when where why and how you were feeling before during and after the binge that will help you take corrective measures to avoid a repeat of your binge behavior in the future.
If you find yourself off plan again make the very next bite Atkins again and get right back on minimizing carb harm.

Re: A total Binge!
Thanks for the advice, guys! Actually, it was my son's 13th b-day on Saturday. I made homemade potato salad and had ice cream and chocolate cake for everybody... me excluded. Well, ummm... til Sunday. I was getting ready to throw away the leftover cake and I couldn't help myself. I ate a piece and a bunch of icing! Then, I figured I already screwed up, so I ate potato salad and a bunch of potato chips! I was really strict on myself for 3 wks leading up to that & was doing so well!
Today, I've had maybe 10g of carbs and not going over it. I hope that kicks all that sugar out of my system! I'll probably stick w/ induction for a couple more weeks or so.

The answer is yes....right? LOL j/kOriginally posted by presidentholmesSee, it really does take just one bite of junk for your mind to say "Oh well, in for a penny, in for a pound" and have lots more bites.
It's best to think of yourself as an addict.
Can I just have one bite?
Can an alcoholic just have one vodka?

Personally, I spent a long time messing up on the "well, I've already screwed up" theory. That's one of the most dangerous rationals! I've done it too!!
Turn up low level cardio. i find this helps. if you walk - add a few extra sessions to burn off the carbs. Don't go faster or harder - just longer.
Good Luck!THINKER!!
