Hi everyone! It's been a long time since I have written but congrat's to everyone and their weight loss! I do have a question. I started on Atkins on July 2 and today is the 20th. I have lost 10 pounds and very proud of that, but is this normal. My friend has lost more and I know I shouldn't compare myself to her but it is frustrating. My scale is not digital so I know that it is not "lying", but my clothes do not feel loose at all. I, however, feel a lot better and have more energy. I am going to continue with this way of eating because this all makes sense. I just hope my weight loss continues.

Re: Is this normal?
We are all different. There is no true standard on Induction weight loss. If the scale keeps moving, I wouldnt worry about how much faster your friend is losing. Just hang in there and you will get the results you want. Good luck.Another day, in a new weigh!!!

Re: Is this normal?
Hi Michelle
As Michael said, we can't compare our loss rate to others as our bodies and metabolism are all different!
You didnt say how much weight you are hoping to lose, to give an idea of how your 10 pounds lost relates to your overall weight and hoped-for loss!
An 'average' 14-day induction loss is reckoned to be between 5% and 10% of what you hope to lose, so if you lost say 7 pounds in the first 2 weeks that would be 7% for someone hoping to lose 100 pounds but 50% for someone hoping to lose 14 pounds.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

Re: Is this normal?
Congrats on the 10lbs!! Please dont feel disheartened. I feel that the first 10-14lbs that you lose is water weight. Then after that its the real hardcore fat! Its only been a few weeks too, please give it time.
Are you doing any exercise? That definately helps the weight come off, esp cardio.
How much do you weigh and how much are you planning to lose?
Also the weight you lose in the first 2 weeks are an indication of ur metabolism. The lower it is the more weight you lose. If you and ur mate started at the same time then maybe it could be she has a lower metabolism than you. But at the end of the day everyone's bodies react differently to changes in diet and exercise.
Be proud of what you have lost and what you are going to lose. The road to weightloss is a hard one but u have taken a step in the right direction in making urself a healthier, lighter person.
