Some of you may recall my wretched doctors appointment during which I was chasted for being on Atkins by an ignorant doctor who then demanded a lipid panel and blood work? Well the results are in folks...and I quoth:
"Your CBC is normal. Normal hemoglobin values fall within a range of 11.7-15.5. Your hemoglobin is 13.7. Normal hematocrit levels are between 35.0-45.0. Your hematocrit is 40.7. Finally your white cell count is 10.0. A normal white cell count will be between 3.8-10.8.
Your fasting glucose level is normal with a value of 87.
The results of your lipid panel are as follows. Your total cholesterol is within normal limits with a value of 122. Your HDL level is 45 which is normal. It is recommended that HDL levels are >40. Your LDL cholesterol is 61, which is considered low. Desired LDL levels are <130. Finally your triglycerides, which are a measure of fat in the blood, are normal with a value of 79. It is recommended that triglyceride levels be <150.
The result of your thyroid test (TSH) is normal with a value of 1.24.
Your electrolytes are normal.
Your kidney function is normal.
Your liver function is normal."
I must say...that looks awfully healthy for someone who is killing themselves by only choking down "meat, bacon and cheese" everyday, huh? The best revenge for ignorance is proving that person wrong. I nearly jumped for joy when I got these results.
(by the way when I got my cholesterol tested 4 years ago as a healthy, skinnier 20 year old who ate all sorts of crap, it was 140...not high but still worth noting that it's gone down...thankyouverymuch)
