I was out exercising tonight. I was walking 1 block and then running 1 block. I was feeling really good about pushing myself. I was almost done with my walk when I passed a house. I could see a guy sitting on his front porch. He started leaning forward to see me run. I was thinking...Ewww he's some sicko. I just kept running. When I got closer he and a woman were just laughing as hard as they could and pointing at me. I'm sure I'm not a pretty sight running, but at least my fat *ss is out there doing something about it. These people were probably in their 50's or 60's. At this point in their lives they have nothing better to do but sit on their porch and make fun of people. I feel better now getting this off my chest. No wonder it is so hard for people to make changes in their lives. I won't let this get to me, but I won't run by that house again.

Re: Why are people so cruel?
Thanks Shelly and Maypo. I just can't believe how adults act sometimes. It would be one thing coming from a kid, but adults. I just don't get it.Michele SW250/CW 226/GW150 F, 38, 5'6"

Re: Why are people so cruel?
I feel the same way. I've always been taught that you judge a person by their character and thought most everyone felt that way...until I met my in-laws. They are now in their 60's and have to be the most shallow people I've ever met. I can't believe they are the parents of my husband. Anyway, to make a long story short, they make sure they let me know in various ways that I'm overweight, how awful it is, etc.
I don't understand how people can say (or do) cruel things and think it is okay.~Kat

Re: Why are people so cruel?
People can be such jerks sometimes! My Grandmother wouldn't even let her heavy realatives sit on her furniture. She use to say they would break it and they smelled bad.
I guess I come from a family of some jerks. If it's any consulation I'm about you height and can't wait to get under one-hundred I'll be such a babe
. Just feel good you are up and doing something. There are always going to be idiots in the world.
Oh and a few months back I was chugging along on the treadmill at the gym listening to music when my music player slipped and I jumped to catch it. Well that threw my step off I slid back on the belt, the emergency key cliped to my shirt snapped out of the machine and the sudden halt made me fly forward and land in a heap on the darn machine. I guess the whole ruckess was pretty loud because everyone and I do mean everyone was standing around me asking if I had passed out! Okay it really has no relavence to your story but it sure was funny to see. My nickname is tumblina and I give people a reason to laugh at me!
Cheer up your not alone! Keep up the great work!

Re: Why are people so cruel?
Momtofour - What you need to do is keep running past that house. Let them see over time how your hard work and persistence is paying off and who their rear ends are getting wider from sitting there and watching you! As you get slimmer, let the clothes you wear get smaller. That man will feel like an *ss when his tongue starts hanging out and his wife gets mad at him!!!!Starting Over!

Hey, don't let them TURKEYS get you down. You are losing your weight, and they will always be an ugly bird that fattened for holidays and devoured by us to lose weight. heheheheheh, plus their ignorance stinks.

Re: Why are people so cruel?
So, so sorry to hear that happened to you!!! Maybe next time you walk/run, you should go past that same house and point and laugh at them! Other peoples ignorance does seem to make losing weight harder for us, but we are strong enough for the challenge! Let this little incident make you stronger and know that thinking about their ignorant behavior is a waste of brain power. Push that incident out of your mind and instead think about how great your doing and how healthy you are becoming. That walk/run you did helped you to lose another pound! Way to go!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Why are people so cruel?
Thanks everyone. I talked with my brother tonight. He is a local police officer. He knew exactly who the people were and had in fact visited them yesterday. They are not good people (which I figured). He advised me to walk another route next time. It's nice having a cop for a brother.Michele SW250/CW 226/GW150 F, 38, 5'6"
