  • Please Convince Me...

Would somebody, anybody please come to my rescue and convince me that eggs are not gross. I really have a hard mental case against them. I usually only eat them as a dish once per week or less, but even to make a mock danich or something like that, it is almost more than I can handle to get over the idea of what an egg is. I just want to enjoy my food and need a little help getting over this hurdle.

    Thanks all.

Eggs are only one of the acceptable protein foods on Atkins. I eat 1 egg maybe 3 times a week.

There are plenty of other acceptable protein choices, I'm sure you can find something you like to eat.

If you don't like eggs, than you can have something else. You don't have to have traditional breakfast foods for breakfast, alot of people have leftovers for breakfast

I'd say if you really hate them, don't force it. it'll just make this woe even harder, I'd stick with things you like.

Heee....Sadie said "traditional" breakfast....I'm a cookbook nut and I read a Colonial Williamsburg cookbook a few months ago. Interestingly, the historian wrote that while the Colonists ate eggs, they didn't eat them for breakfast----neither did other colonists in the other North American British colonies. People ate egg dishes for luncheon or supper until the 1800s. For breakfast, they had porridge and/or cold leftover meat. Then for one reason or the other, egg dishes started appearing on the breakfast table.

So eggs for breakfast? Not necessary. Try eating leftovers. I can't handle anything terribly spicy in the morning, but I do like plainly seasoned cold leftover chicken or pork chops for breakfast.

You don't LIKE them? Or you think they're not healthy? What is the issue?

I agree, if you don't like them, there are plenty of other good healthy protein foods out there! If you think they are unhealthy .. well, you've been brainwashed.

No, No, I Like The Way They Taste, They Just Look So Nasty. Not Concerned About Health, That Is Why I Am On This Woe. I Want To Be Able To Eat Them Without Grossing Out Over The Whole Concept Of What An Egg Is? Does That Make Any Sense At All? Because It's Not Just Eating Them "as Is", We Use Them For So Many Different Thinkgs, I Guess I Was Just Hoping Someone Could Help Me Through My Mental Block. If I Am Not Whining Too Much.

What about just buying egg replacers? they still have egg in them (usually egg whites with a little coloring) but they don't look gross..... I don't like the taste of them but you may. Have you tried them? like egg beaters and such?

interesting side note...I loved eggs until I gave birth to my daughter and started disliking their smell and taste and then at 6 mo. we found out she is highly allergic to them... WHAT WEIRDNESS is that?

Sorry I can't help you. I can't stand eating simply eggs either... From the smell to the texture, you can keep them. Put them in a custard or a quiche however, they are fine for me.

I'm not sure if you celebrate easter but I remember coloring eggs and all the fun we had gobbling them down like candy. Try not to dwell on the internal stuff and think of the potential. If I sat there and obsessed about where my meat had been before I would probably not eat meat period! Instead I think of yummy cheese and bacon omelets, over stuffed devilled eggs and colorfully painted easter treats. As far as the texture I always prefer well done. Just think of that cute little clucking bunny LOL! Everyday can be a celebration. It's a stretch maybe but it's just adjusting your perception. If it helps cook the eggs and then walk away for awhile. I have to do that with chicken for the same reason you have with the eggs. Don't know if this helps but if all else fells tuna comes in a can and can be just as versital if you like it. Everyones right there are plenty of protien options before us!

Amazing. That is what I was hoping for. Just a more positive way of looking at them. I know it is just a mental thing, but then perception is everything. Thanks much.

I love eggs!!!! I can't imagine not being able to eat them on this WOE. It is my biggest benefit. If you think about most of our food sources in too much detail in can gross you out. I don't think about it.
