    Hello beatiful Heidi,

Of course I KNOW it works. I'm still 90 lbs lighter thanks to Dr. Atkins. I've been doing it for 4 years. But something's gone wrong - and I don't think I have hidden carb. My feeling is that I've gotten myself into a bad spot. Need to shake things up. Ugly - but true.

For lots of folks there seems to be a long Stall period before GOAL. 2big went for months and did everything to try to break it and then one day it broke and she started to lose again and made goal. Sarah had the same problem. I think that trying not to worry about it might help and maybe a week or so of induction menu might kickstart it again. Some folks on the South Beach Diet bulletin board had great success switching. P-bird lost 30 pounds after the switch. I tried to switch but it didn't work for me.....

Y'know - THANK YOU!! Hearing about "months" of stall made me feel a great deal better.

Re: Maybe it Just Doesn't work anymore for me....

they sent me over here to tell you about months of stalls. i had 6 biggies. one at 250 and did everything everybody told me to do to fix it no cheese no dairy more carbs less carbs, less fat more fat no this no that. then I was so screwed up I just went back to eating what had gotten me there in the first place and the scales moved again. the next one was right at 200 pounds, talk about frustrating. 11 weeks there total right on the verge of getting to 100erland. then they moved and whoosh I was done to 182 pounds in less then 2 more months and then I sat and sat for 13 weeks and 6 days. then it moved and I sat again at 175 for 2 months and 7 weeksat 170. of course during those scale sits at 175 I was adding 7 pounds of lean body tissue and during the time from 250 to 182 I added 16 pounds of lean tissue according to the dunk tank measuring.
So make sure your stalls are really stalls with a lean body mass or a fat fass measuring device cause while we are working hard shedding fat we are nmorphing our bodies adding lean tissue pounds. You don't want to be thinking no fat is being shed and mess up a great thing you got going on doing your Atkins.

Since you enjoy walking try doing some HIIT as part of your walking alternating the speeds will help burn more fat for the same exercise period.

What are you doing for your resistance exercise part of your Atkins. weight lifting will help shed pounds of fat too.

Maybe I misunderstood something...but why on earth would anyone have to move to South Beach in order to eat an apple or oatmeal???????

I'm on Atkins and I've eaten apples...I just started the grain rung, and while I haven't eaten oatmeal yet, it's just because I haven't been to the store to get any.

Re: Maybe it Just Doesn't work anymore for me....

I am with whoever said that maybe you should give the traditional way of doing OWL a chance first. What could it hurt? You are already stalled anyway, right? Maybe since you have been in long term induction that, yes, maybe your body is saying you need something different--like you need to move to OWL, but please do it the right way. Remember, many people try to alter the Atkins plan to suit their own tastes and it backfires in a big way. I also agree that maybe you should really shake up your exercise routine. Are you doing any weight exercises? i know many who have broken out of a stall just by doing weight bearing exercises because as the old saying goes "more muscle burns more fat than just aerobic exercise". Although, Dr. A does say that you can go off plan to another plan and do it for a few days and come back on Atkins but you would have to weigh the costs. Your cravings may come back really bad or you may gain more than you would like before getting back onto Atkins. Do what you think is best but I think that you should give OWL a chance and do it the way it is intended and not just trying things to see if you can eat them and your weight goes up or down. Maybe your body is just bored with your WOE and need some stimulation. You know what I mean? I think you should hang in there and fix a few things before you try this other way.

                    Yes HE has....

Bascially, I'm still extending my experiment. I've been away on vacation for several weeks ....allowing myself to eat more carb but not being insane. I'm on "clean" atkins now. I'm bringing myself all the way back to induction. Let's see what happens.

The good Dr. says that your metabolism can adjust. I'm hoping this is shock therapy. The good news - I didn't have too many massive carb-out events. (I'll confess to having desert one night at a family gathering).
