    Nelson - last time I did atkins I retained a LOT of fluid in my ankles and legs for some reason. This time I'm riding my bike and am not retaining any. My doc said that excercise will help lesson water retention so maybe if you do the stair thing, like you said, it will help.

    Not2late - I do the same thing with my bike. I always have a purpose when I go out on it, like taking the kids swimming, to the park, or even out for an ice cream (for them, not me). It seems to make excercise easier when there's a reason for it.

      Thanks again, I did take the lunch time walk and also was up and down the stairs about 10 times yesterday with the children. My legs are really tired this moring but at least I did it. Todays weight 285.5 TOM is approaching.

      breakfast - spam and eggs, coffee with heavy cream
      lunch - 2 pieces of celery with cream cheese,
      Dinner - 2 hamburger patty's, cheese, salad greens, canned asparagas.
      Lord, my dream is to lose this weight and to be healthier.

        Hey there girl. Everyone has made wonderful suggestions for you. I know you said you hate exercising. Let me suggest a set of tapes that is wonderful for those who hate it. Try Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Pounds. It is wonderful, even if to get up and get moving. All you need is a small area. It is low impact and goes by so quickly. I have her 1,2,3, and 4 mile tapes. I usually do the 2-3 mile tapes and one weekends hit the 4 mile. The one mile tape is a wonderful way to start. I got my mother in law started on the one mile tape, as she also hates to exercise, and she loves it. Leslie is friendly and the people in her videos have all different sizes. Her tapes are ALL over Ebay and sometimes at yard sales. They're not even that expensive if you purchase them new.

        I personally started exercising by walking up and down my stairs in my house a few times. Now, I'm up to running them up and down 8-10 times a night, on purpose! Maybe just walk up and down 2 times a day on purpose and you'd be surprised how winded you get!

        I also keep snack baggies of food on hand in my fridge at home and work. Hard boiled eggs, diced veggies, diced burger pieces, diced chicken, diced cheese, etc. It is SUPER handy when you are dying for a snack.

        Most of all, don't think you are alone in being frustrated. I feel like my entire world revolves around losing weight, watching what I eat, etc. I fall off the wagon occasionally and jump right back on.

        I would suggest doing 2 weeks of strict induction. Start fresh, record your food on Fitday (I hated it at first but it really helps), record your exercise. Take a full body shot and keep it for yourself. I am currently in extended induction and if you'd like, we can start to map our exercise and food together. We wouldn't have to eat the same things or exercise the same, just check on each other and see what's going on. Sometimes it helps!

          Thanks so much again everyone. This is one of the reasons I continue to come to the board daily. The support and that this board send to each person is awesome.

          Heather, thanks for the support and the suggestions.

          I ended going up and down those stairs yesterday more than ever. We had 2 sick children and I was trying to mega manage so my legs got their workout. Today we are on a field trip so I'm going to be walking with the kids again. I'm doing it little by little.
          When I get my battery fixed on my computer, I will be able to post my meals in fitday so that they will stay there. Because my battery is going out my computer resets the time to Aug 1997...when I did not even own a computer. I was going crazy trying to figure out why I can't find my past entries and my friend told me about my battery.

          Even thought I've been fixing high carb meals for these children, I have stayed on goal in my eating this week. I have my water bottles, cheese, celery sticks, and some shredded chicken ready for my lunch.

          weight today 283.5 (I took one of th dr's water pills last night so i lost some of the water in my legs and ankles for walking today.)
          Lord, my dream is to lose this weight and to be healthier.
