  • Weekends, are they your enemy?

Are weekends your time to really focus on your eating, be creative with cooking and get all your water down?
Or is the 9-5 week's pattern what keeps you going, and the unscheduled weekends wreak havoc on your will power?

I tend to be option 2. I do well at work. Even though there are things there that are tempting, I don't look at it that way. I look at work and see the good foods available, unlimited tasty water (I HATE the taste of our tap, we just got a filter and it still tastes kinda wonky). I like organizing things so I like being at work and going "ok its 9and I just ate that means I should have a snack around 11 if I Want to eat lunch at..." you get the picture.
Weekends are more tempting, because my roomies love their junk food, and when you have the peer pressure of a chef that you live with, home made icecream starts to look real good!

I get creative....usually. Steers off boredom and keeps me on my toes by getting ready for the week; especially during high stress times like: school, tests, finals, repots, research, meetings, etc.

I tend to have to plan ahead or life will take over.

You have a chef that lives with you?????

Ya know, you should make the chef practice by cooking one or two recipes from Escoffier's book every weekend. Many of Escoffier's recipes are naturally low carb--cream reduction suaces, butter liason sauces, etc.

I do scrap booking on the weekends. That keeps me busy and it has also started to clean up my drawer of pictures I never know what to do with.

I also drink extra water, that helps me feel full so I am not tempted to cheat.

I was always really horrible on the weekends with like, feed the kid, eat a couple bites of his spaghetti/cookies/juice/fill in the blanks. Last weekend, instead of doing that I kept one of the websites that you track everything you stick in your mouth open the entire time and I think the constant reminder that I would have to input it into a tracker made me stay on plan. That and I drank more than a gallon of water a day... yanno, drink a cup whenever you feel the urge or whatever.

Do I plan every detail of my life? Nope. Those that know me on these boards know that I have had little control over my life in the last year. But I do plan my meals or at least know my "go to source" for my meals. I know what take out I can have. I can always eat eggs in a pinch. I can have bunless burgers and salads. I let "havoc" control my life for many years. Part of my mind on Atkins is that I don't have to let that happen any more and none of us do.

Re: Weekends, are they your enemy?

Weekends *food wise* are abit annoying cos no weekend has the same routine. During the week its 3 meals a day at the same times and gym in the evenings. All meals are planned. At the weekends anything can happen but I still have my meals planned but I only have 2 meals as I will sleep abit later and dont get hungry til lunchtime. During the week I will drink 3 litres a day but at the weekends I struggle to drink 2. Never mind , I still stay legal and get extra curicular activities at the weekends....*wink*
