  • I'm sure this is obvious to everyone but me...but

when figuring your counts on a chicken wing (when it has been seperated into two sections) Do you count each section seperately or do you count two sections as one wing. Inputing into fitday here and I've managed to confuse myself. (which isn't hard by any means!) as to whether 10 separate parts count as 10 wings or 5.

I feel so silly having to ask this.

chicken doesn't have any carbs to count. If you're trying to enter it into a food calculator, I'd go with the whole wing, but if you really want accuracy, use the weight of the serving as a guide.

Thanks Susan. I know there's no carb count but trying to balance my percentages and didn't want them outta whack.

I figured just to count both sections as one. But thought I'd ask to make sure.

      Thank you!

I always weigh my wings or drumsticks, or whatever meat that has bones, before I eat and then weigh the rests that I throw out afterwards, subtract the 2, and there you go, the exact amount of meat eaten.
That is because I always was confused too, like what size exactly is considered to be a 'medium drumstick' and things like that.........

Re: I'm sure this is obvious to everyone but me...but

Well, a whole wing consists of the really bony part (with the 2 bones with the smallish space betweem them) and the one that looks like a little chicken leg. Those are wing halves. So two of them would count as a wing and in your example, you ate 5 wings.

And don't worry, it's not obvious to everyone. I had to do a bit of research comparing calorie counts, serving sizes, and weights to prove this to myself when I first had that question.
No stats. Not weighing anymore ever. Will post "before and after" pictures when I want to. The end.

                  Me to. Soliwit!
My husband always laughs at me weighing the bones before throwing them out, but it does give me a good idea of how much actual meat was in the chicken breast, so when I am eating out I can make a better guess at how much is on their chicken portions.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

The entire thing makes my head hurt. Instead of wings I use boneless chicken breast baked with a little garlic salt, cut into strips and dipped with Franks hot sauce and a little blue cheese dressing on the side. It's easier to count and eat.

Takes to parts of a wing to flap...so I'd say count two halves as one wing... unless you have a handicapped chicken!

For Fitday, I always counted the two pieces as a single wing Fitday listed in their program. I believe I confirmed the Fitday listed protein and fat grams against a different nutrition (dietfacts maybe) was the full wing. Not that it matters much beyond checking on your percentages for the day since they are a liberal item.

Thanks everyone. I counted them as two for one. I think I will be picking up a scale as I do have trouble with some things as to how many ounces it might be.

Thank you again for all the responses I really do appreciate it.
