  • Back from my recent vacation in carbville

Hello...I'm back from a little vacation in carbville...ready for some meat and veggies...I have
been tired and hungary and I need a break from it...so here I am, giving Atkins another shot...It's about my hundredth time but maybe this is the time I will reach my goal weight...I'm just so damn tired of being uncomfortable in my own body...The minute I wake up and put on my elastic waist work pants, I get discouraged...I'm ready for a pair of button-flys...Anyone out there who's starting up again for the hundredth time care to share in their frustrations? Present goals? Drop me a line...I always respond even if it takes me a few days...I'm looking forward to being part of the ADBB again...it's nice to know how many people out there feel my stress...Later !

Hi Notthin ~ welcome back to ADBB! I feel your pain ~ i've been on Atkins many times, only to eventually end up cheating and then freaking out and eating too many carbs and sugar for stretches of time... horrible cycle, really. It is amazing how much more in control i feel, of my self, when i am following the Atkins way. This time is different for me because i am not looking at this as a quick fix or a "diet", rather, a lifetime change. I have had to really look at myself and come to terms with the fact that i am indeed a carbohydrate/sugar addict. That was very painful to admit to myself... but very freeing. The realization of this fact is what led me to the understanding that this is a lifetime process for me.

I have an awful lot of weight to lose, so i am taking it one day at a time and breaking it up into *mini* goals. Right now i am three pounds away from my first mini goal, so i am pretty psyched about that.

Come check out the Second Time Around Club forum, if you haven't already! There are lots of us in this boat...

I feel your pain. I am re-starting this diet for what seems like the hundreth time also. The first time I did this diet they weight just flew off with hardly any effort, but know going on my second week of induction, the are sloooowly coming off. I refuse to even weigh myself anymore. I know what I weighed to beging because of a dr. visit, but I have put my scales away. That was always my biggest disappointment in re-starting this diet was how slow the scales moved. All I know is that my clothes are slowly getting looser, and I am feeling much better now that my sugar cravings are gone (well not all time). I am so much happier on this diet than when I try low fat, because the other way I was always starving, this way, I am full till the next meal. It's a wonderful feeling!

Notthin, welcome to the board. It is so very important to take your weight loss goals tiny steps at a time so that you not feel overwhelmed. You will get there. Whenever you get the urge to eat something off-plan, remember that feeling of discomfort you get when you put on your work pants in the morning. Let that elastic waist be a thing of the past!

            You can do it.
101th time will win. Just like my 6th time quitting smoking. I finally did it.

The important thing is that you are back, which tells me you really are tired of being overweight. Let this time be the last time.

You're going to have to work at it, though. That means understanding the plan, sticking to the plan, incorporating exercise, etc. But you know what --- YOU'RE GOING TO FEEL GREAT ABOUT YOURSELF WHEN YOU DO STICK TO PLAN!

That feeling of self-love is WONDERFUL!!! You'll see. And that feeling is like dominos, it translates to all aspects of your life. And then the weight keeps falling off, and you keep feeling good, and the weight keeps falling off (you get the picture!).

So stick to plan, keep coming here to ask your questions, etc. You CAN do it this time!
