  • Alcohol?

    Well, its been 4 months sence I made the desision to loose weight. I've lost 44lbs. So I really don't want to screw it up now. But I used to party alot. I still go out with my friends but I havn't been drinking anything. I was never an alcoholic or anything. (I think I can safly say that sence I quit cold turkey and there's a bottle of Grey Goose sitting on my dest that I havn't touched in 4 months) But I do kinda miss being able to get sloshed with my friends from time to time.

    My question is. Would occasional going out (I'm talking about once every couple of months) and drinking something with no Carbs (I'm a vodka drinker) Seriously screw up my diet? If there's even the chance of gaining one single pound back I don't want to do it. I know that the body would burn the alcohol before it burns fat and all. But how badly would that screw up my metabilisim? Would I have fallen off the wagon, so to speak?

    when you are ready then you will know so take your time and you choose when and if you are going to imbibe again ...

      Dr. Atkins book says that certain alcohol like hard liquor in diet soda only postpones weight loss b/c the body has to burn that off before it burns fat, but let me give you a WARNING:
      I have found that the liquor goes straight to your head on Atkins (I went out w/ friends too much) and in my personal experience, and fellow friends of mine that had success with Atkins, you may be likely to make a bad decision, like a late fast food run and live to regret it! Been there done that, and I'm telling you that I had 2 years OWL before I fell off the wagon (more about that on the Introductions thread).
      The alcohol absorbs faster when your not loading up with carbs and you may get really hungry or your stomach may become really unsettled. It is really not worth it.
      Even when you are ready, gague the first outing VERY carefully. Beware of getting sloshed!

        Alright, thanks for the advice. My goal in this was to get sloshed without messing up my diet. Maybe one or two drinks could accomplish that without messing up my diet? Maybe mixed with Diet 7 UP to make it last longer. I'm not too worried about what I might do when I'm drunk. I'm actualy one of the few people around who can think when I'm drunk. I've never tryed to drive a car or do anything stupid when I'm drunk, maybe a little silly, but thats it.

        Oh well, I'll probably hold off on the drinking untill I drop at least a 100 lbs. Thanks for the help.

            my problem with drinking is at the beginning of the nite I start out with diet drinks and liqour then usually a few hours later im ordering whatever I want including my favorite drinks white russians..then afterwards Im hitting taco bell and ordering 3 chalupas and nachos, and potatos..then I get sick
