  • Nearing the End of Induction and have a few questions

    Hi

I started the Induction a week past Sunday and have so far lost 10lbs which i am very happy about. I am not too sure if I am doing the whole Atkins thing correctly and have read the book quite a few times!

I mainly am eating eggs and bacon for breakfast - snacking on Cheese and for dinner having steaks, chicken or something similar! I do not have much hunger just now but am constantly drinking water! I am only drinking water just now.

I am thinking about heading to the gym - does anyone recomend stuff to do, that will aid the weight loss? Just Cv stuff like running and rowing machine? I am keen to be loosing more weight at the moment!

Can anyone help me get my head round this please? Am new to this site too lol, god I sound helpless!

    When I started I was 14 stone am now 13 stone 4.

    Cheers

    John

    welcome to ADBB
yep you are not doing Atkins correctly cause Dr Atkins requires not only 3 cups of veggies every day from the acceptable veggies lists he also requires daily exercise both cardio and resistance.

Walking is a great cardio. if you haven't been to the gym and/or working out in a whuikle start with a basic walking test 12 min at whatever speed you can handle to see if you are in any kind of shape. Some machines have fitness tests based on your heart rate aothers don't. but anywhere from a 7-12 min mile will be good enough condition to start some weight training too. if not in shape work the first 2 weeks to improve your cardio. you can use your target heart range as a guide too.

Once you get in good cardio them pick any machine or combination of machines and work out regularly. We have several exercise challenges going on you can join too as all ADBB challenges are open enrollment.

Definately start at a gym. A good gym will be full of equipment that can work out different parts of your body. Get a personal trainer to sit down and have a chat with you about ur goals and what parts of ur body that u'd like to improve. They can then write out a programme for you to follow, hopefully taking Atkins into consideration.

          Hi Jim!

I sure hope you're eating vegetables in there somewhere. :P

Any kind of exercise will do, the key is that you're doing something. Go for a walk around the block. If you're in shape, walk a few miles. Do situps, pushups, etc... If you have a bike, use it! Take the stairs at work instead of the elevator. If you have a gym near you, and want to join it, then meet with a personal trainer.

The key is really that you do something, and how much of something you do is up to your fitness level.

          And welcome to the board!
