Re: What will you look and feel like at goal?

How on earth do people get to size "0"?! They must have a really small frame...even at my skinniest, I have never been under 120 pounds!
    Yanno, that's an interesting question.

I have a *very tiny* frame ... which is why I was severely overweight at 133 pounds ... yes, its true, believe me ... it was ugly.

I never really set out to be a size "0", but Atkins made it easy. Exercise is definitely key !!! All I wanted was not to be an out of shape couch potato when I started Atkins. Maybe go from a size (nearly) 12 in missy down to a respectable 8 .. that would have been good as far as I was concerned. But strict adherence to the plan (including a rigorous and relentless exercise plan) yielded better results than I ever imagined. Yes, I wear a size "0" at age 50 ... Never in my wildest would I ever have thought that was possible, but with a hardcore approach, you can definitely exceed your expectations!!

Re: What will you look and feel like at goal?

This is really a wonderful thought provoking thread. Wow. I'm going to think about this and e mail the answer to myself. I'd post it here to share, but feel uncomfortable with it being in such an open place - guests can just walk on in and read this.
Thank you though, for getting my mind moving in the right direction!
G Mom your pictures are awesome.
I love everyone future selves! We will all make it! Wooo hoooo

Guests can read this page, but not our journals then, I guess? Well, great!! Now the whole world knows I have a fat apron!!! I guess it's too late now, huh?

I'm glad so many people have found this thread helpful and thought-provoking. I don't think Joy has been online today yet to see all this discussion she started with her thoughtful post to me.

Thanks everyone, for your kind comments -- and some very personal revelations. And for those who choose to keep their "ideal" private, I certainly understand that as well. Know that we support you in your "vision" regardless. That's why I love this place -- we're all in it together!

We look forward to "seeing" more of your "future selves" (well put, Lady Hawke!).

Re: What will you look and feel like at goal?

I've seen the post Adena, and I've been waiting all day until I could get home and post the way I feel without being rushed by work. LOL

When I get to goal, I am going to be able to cross my legs like a woman does not a man because my thighs are too fat to allow them to cross normally.

WHen I get to goal, I am going to have a flat, firm stomach, even if it has some skin...it is going to be flat and firm underneath without me having to "suck it in".

When I get to goal, I and others, will be able to see my cheekbones and my collar bones. I will not have a double chin.

When I get to goal, I will walk TALL and PROUD in my 5'10 frame AND in high heels. I won't have to feel the need to get shorter, so that I appear smaller.

When I get to goal, I am going to be physically fit. Able to dance all night long in the salsa clubs or in the swing dance clubs! I will be able to run and play. I will not get winded going to the third floor in our office building!

I will have sleek muscles in my arms and my legs, my shoulders, chest and back.

When I get to goal, I am going to eat plenty of fresh meats, vegetables, fruits, nuts and beans. I don't ever need the foods that made me fat to begin with, ever again.

When I get to goal, I am going to start a family with my husband. Hopefully, my children will never know what it is to be obese. They will be taught to eat fresh vegetables, meats, fruits, grains. Treats will be treats, not every day staples in our home.

When I get to goal, my husband will think I am the hottest thing he's ever seen (not that he doesn't already...but he's never seen me thin) and here's the most important thing...SO WILL I!

When I get invited to parties, I will take extravagent dishes so that I have appropriate food. I can see everyone else eating that food LOL

When I go on trips, I will be taking food with me, or planning ahead of time where I can get the food I need.

If I think about these things all the time, see it over and over in my mind....it IS.

Re: What will you look and feel like at goal?

I love seeing everyone saying "I WILL". Keep saying it , over and over and over and YOU WILL!

Jerrica--I loved seeing that you will be in EVERY family photo.

TammyJo--you are so right when you said "I can tell you know, there is NOTHING that will be worth giving up being smaller for! No frosty or donut or potato chip or soft drink or molten lave chocolate cake from Chili's will EVER taste good to me again, because I see that those choices are what got me to where I am now." You keep feeling like that and you WILL reach your goal!!! I LOVE what you said here!

Lady Hawke, I totally understand about some things being private. Do write it down and send it to yourself though. Paint the picture in your mind, and look at it OFTEN. Everyone here should do that. Send whatever you wrote, to yourself. Read it often.

Re: What will you look and feel like at goal?

I love your list, Joy! And I saw a few more things I want to add to mine... not crossing my legs like a man is great one!

You have it so right about completely changing your attitidue toward food. What you and TammyJo both said makes so much sense. When I started here, I thought I'd go back to eating "normal" foods (just in moderation) when I was done. I see now why that won't and doesn't work for the vast majority of people... and am really starting to believe it and see myself eating/living this way forever. OMG, the "no cheat police" are working their way into my psyche...

Thanks again, Joy, for sparking such inspiration!

Re: What will you look and feel like at goal?

Well ladies it looks like you all are pretty much on topic here. I wanted to post my side of the basketball court.

When I get to goal weight the first thing I will do is run around the house like a wild cowboy.

I will be starting to get into the US Marine Corp.

I will be able to go swimming (something I enjoy doing) without worrying about people seeing my fat tummy.

I will wear a pair of nice ranglers that I pick up from Wal-Mart.

I will be running everyday and excerising all the time.

I will feel like a real man. Not someone that is so fat he can barely fit into his car's seatbelt. I will be able to drive without having to have my belly rub against the steering wheel.

There is so much to the way I will feel when I reach my goal. I can't wait to get to that level. I want to be able to show that my friends were wrong about me needing the stomach surgery. I will be able to prove to my friends and my parents (mainly my Dad. He doesn't think I can do it.) that I am strong and I did it. I honestly can't begin to think of how I would look. I have never in my entire lifetime been somewhat skinney. I can tell you now when I reach my goal I plan on looking down at my feet to make sure that they are there and not have to move the jello of a tummy back or lean over.

Most importantly I will be able to show others and help others to see that Atkins does work and we are not crazy. Plus I want to be able to encourage others who used to be at my current weight. There is no time like the present. We have to get our weight under control or we will go no where except in a bed rest and then eventually into a 4X coffin.

This is A VERY good post and we all should keep our eyes on the future. I could go on more but I have to go to bed.
Mouse? I don't need no stinkin mouse!

Re: What will you look and feel like at goal?

AWESOME posts. You are doing great! All of you! All of US!

I will not look much different LOL Actually, I've lost a size but almost no lbs all summer, so maybe I will But I doubt I will look much different than right now.

And honestly, I won't feel much different than right now either...but I'll have "finished" the race. I totally recognize this is a WOL, and every time I test it, I'm reminded of how YUCKY the junk makes me feel. But I'll have accomplished something huge, I'll have gotten FIT for me and my family. I'll have escaped diabetes and likely heart conditions that haunt my family and I'll have given my kids living proof that you CAN fight genetics.

I'll wear stylish clothes (that I buy at consignment shops ).

                    I'll have "sexy" days.

I'll walk in to my office knowing that the breakroom has no power over me. Right next to the stalish donuts and dry birthday cake is my premium coffee and heavy cream...tough call. NOT!

I'll walk instead of drive. I'll move instead of sit. I'll play instead of watch.

I'll know that I've changed my life forever. I'm a 5%'er. I'm staying skinny. I know it. I see it. I love it.

Thanks for inspiring me to put these down Adena. See you around!
What is it, a RACE? It's coming off, right????

Korelis, as Adena said, thanks for giving us a man's perspective!! You WILL do it! You WILL have all those things!

Denise, those are all awesome. It's especially poignant about escaping diabetes and heart conditions. And about being a 5%er.

I want to be a 5%er too. And you know what...all of us here at ADBB can be 5%ers too.

Re: What will you look and feel like at goal?

I have a hard time picturing what I will look like at goal. I've always been very big. I'm a smaller size now than when I graduated from elementary school.

I thiiiink I'd do well as a size 14. But who knows how I'll feel when I get there?

I'll know I'm at goal when: I don't worry about not fitting into chairs with arms.
Patio Furnature does not fill me with fear.
I can shop in "regular" stores.
I can wave hello to someone and not knock them over with my arm wobble.

*tests the wobble* I've still got a ways to go yet.

Jumping in too. This is a great post.

I will hand over my camera to someone else to take my picture instead of never being in any because I am taking them (likely excuse huh?)

I will wear slacks, dresses and even jeans with belts.

I will be able to run and play with my daughter for hours not just minutes

I will be able to take my daughter to 6 Flags and fit on every ride and walk around all day

I will be able to train my daughter to eat good foods and hopefully never have the problems I have had with weight

I will shop in regular stores and no more Lane Bryant, Cato Plus, Catherines, and The Avenue!!!! And I will be able to buy more clothes for my money.

                                and the biggest one:
