  • Snigger Snigger!

Just had a conversation with 3 other colleagues at work about breakfast.

I mentioned that I have bacon nearly every morning, often with mushrooms and occasionally with eggs. The comments I got were "thats not very healthy", to which I explained that being 70lbs over weight is even less healthy and then said something about my cholesterol and my weight being lower than it used to be.

About 20 minutes later after another conversation, we were talking about lunch

I told them what I had for mine today. 3 slices of ham, grated carrot, cucumber, tomato, lettuce, beetroot and a bit of cheddar cheese. (I turned to them and asked how unhealthy that was also.)

They then asked what I was likely to have for my evening meal, to which I replied, chicken, Brocolli, leeks and another veggie which I hadnt decided on.

I think it would appear I don't lead such an unhealthy lifestyle after all LOL LOL

That is so typical of the folks who don't understand. When I get that response from people, I tell them that that is the beauty of low carb and Atkins in particular. I tell them that eating a lot of fat is not bad for you when you have significantly reduced your carb intake.

Most folks blame fat in the diet for all the disease, but we all know that its is sugar combined with fat that causes the problems.

Rich, I'll bet you blew their diets away when it came to veggies!

Yay Rich!! No one comes out and tells me Atkins is bad, but they say things like (today for example) "I just eat in moderation and don't cut out any food groups. That's not realistic." My co-worker then told me all the recipes she found using stuffing mix as an ingredient. Well, my meat loaf, tuna patties and hamburgers come out just fine without the addition of store-bought hunks of seasoned stale bread. Sheesh!

Yeah, me too ladyinred. I make salmon patties just fine without crushed bread crumbs or crackers. Meatloaf also....Turns out just fine.

Just keep laughin' yourself healthy and thin Richt! No one will understand this WOE until they read the book and learn about it in its entirety.
How do they explain your weight loss? Do they truely believe you are less healthy now than when you were 70lbs heavier? What is their logic? Well, keep doin' what you're doin'. Its lookin' good!!

I get that all the time! One friend of ours has been on weight watchers off and on for the last 8 years I've known her and actually weighs MORE than she did when she started! She's always telling me how unhealthy my way of eating is and how Atkins doesn't work. I love it!

I love the look they get in their eyes when you describe your meal to them. Especially if they are wolfing down a cheeseburger and fries while you tell them.

                  Re: Snigger Snigger!

The doctor I consulted after my accident tried to tell me Atkins was unhealthy, so I listed my food for the day. He went very quiet. Then I asked him did he think 131 kgs, BP of 190s/100s was healthier than 104 kgs and BP 0f 115s/mid70s? He didn't mention Atkins again. Funny that!

On the breadcrumbs front, I've been experimenting with LSA and psyllium husks. They go just great in meatloaf and I made prawn cutlets with them too, my other half liked them better than his ones done in breadcrumbs! (WE buy green oprawns and dip them in egg and then LSA. Much nicer than those frozen ones with all the additives.

I dont even argue with people about it anymore. I just say "okay". There is no changing my mind about it but its fun to watch them try. I find most people know someone who has changed their life eating this way as its been around so long now.
