  • I am Very new to this site and Atkins!!!

    Hey everyone,

I am sooo excited to have found this site and all of you! I am new to the whole Atkins experience but feel much better that I can read about success stories on here and all of your experiences. I am only on day 2 of the plan, I gotta say I am feeling alittle worried because I dont feel hungry and I AM ALWAYS HUNGRY on diets, so maybe just maybe....(i am keeping my fingers crossed big time.
I am wondering if anyone could take the time to tell me how long it takes the body to go into the ketosis phase, I have bought the strips and they arent showing any progress as of yet, but it is prlly too early for that. Please share your experiences with me.
    God bless!!

    Welcome aboard!

For me it takes about three days for ketosis to show on the strips. So, it should be happening any day now for you. Also, no matter how dark they turn, if they turn at all you are in ketosis.

There are several challenges that you might want to view and join: Exercise http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=51
    Other http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=20

And it is always fun to start a journal and have people pop in and say hi -- then you can go around and visit with them too: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=31

I hope you enjoy your stay and if you have any questions, just post.

Best wishes on your journey to weight loss and better health!

I'm so excited you're here and found us!! This is an amazing support site! So.. I welcome u w/ open arms! I noticed you said you were always hungry on diets.. and this is why I'd like to share my experience w/ Atkins. Atkins is not a diet.. it is a lifestyle change. So once ur ready to make that lifestyle change it will not work for you. I've tried. But now that I've made that mental-state change, my life is so much healthier. With Atkins, it gives you such a variety of foods you CAN eat.. cheeses, meats, eggs, certain portions of veggies.. I rarely am actually hungry. The most important things on atkins.. DRINK YOUR WATER!!! It will help you along, at least it helps me so much I can't even imagine an hour w/o it!! When you feel hungry.. Drink a glass of water (not gulp it), and then really ask yourself if you are hungry or if you're just bored or an emotional eater (be aware of it).. string cheese is a nice snack. Another good snack is chopped up meat (hamburger pattie, chicken, steak, etc.. no BBQ sauce on induction.. and limited on phase 2), with some lettuce and small amount of dressing. A little side salad is nice to have handy when u feel hungry. Always have something you're allowed to eat convenient in case you do feel hungry. But I guarentee if you drink all the water you're supposed to throughout the day, eat your snacks and the right meals you will not feel starved on this "diet".. Good luck and REMEMBER.. WE CAN DO IT!!

I just wanted to say thanks to both of you for welcoming me and making me feel comfortable. It is nice to find good people in this world. I am facing day 4 of induction and facing it still with confidence. You had mentioned to drink my water and in fact I am a waterholic, I very rarely am seen with out my water bottle in hand, heheh! Thanks for the great snack advice, I bought a bag of string cheese and am when I feel the "urge" I am having one of those instead.
