Ok...doe all coffee have carbs? Since when??? I'm going to check my book, but I don't recall reading this before. I just noticed it when reading some old post from 2005 on a restaurant related forum....I've only counted the cream I've added or the SF syrups...Is this true? What about decaf? What about coffee -vs- espresso?

Re: Carbs in coffee
I don't know about "regular" brewed coffee, but instant coffee has carbs. For example, Hazelnut Taster's Choice has 1 gram of carb per teaspoon. Dunno about the decaf instant...there's nothing on the label LOL.~Lisa

Re: Carbs in coffee
I did not have coffee this morning while I was waiting for someone to respond to this question...thanks jcapulet. I dont usually drink instant. I usually have espresso with cream or decaff with cream. I just was wondering since I read someplace that there is carbs in the coffee.

Re: Carbs in coffee
i found a site a long long time ago that had different brands, instant and brewed that told different counts. perhaps i hid that in my journal somewhere? i don't remember but i'll see if i can't track it down. not in the next 10 minutes though.
also, try logging your coffee into fit day and see where that gets you. there are all sorts of coffee's listed.
for instance:
coffee, made from ground, regular, 1 fluid oz. has .118 grams of carbs. for a 6 oz cup of coffee that is 1 carb. not a bunch but if your having 3 or 4 cups during the day along with a sweetner, the totals can add up fast.

Re: Carbs in coffee
It's not a bunch if you're only drinking 6oz cups - but my coffee mug is 12oz!! It adds up REAL quick.
Coffee has carbs - all of it. I generally count 1 gram of carb for every 8 oz.

Re: Carbs in coffee
Ugh, this is a tragic thing. The one thing I've held fast to is my bad coffee habit. I have the equivalent of 6-10 cups of coffee a day. I quit smoking, and quit carbs, and now coffee??? I already think I drink too much splenda, so coffee was my freebie.

Re: Carbs in coffee
Keg, if you are drinking that much coffee, you may not be getting in all the pure water you need per day. How about reducing your coffee intake to the morning only, then replace all those other cups with water? You won't regret it!Originally posted by KegeratorUgh, this is a tragic thing. Re: Carbs in coffee
Not sure if you have Kenco instant coffee over there - but I`ve just had a look on the lable of mine (Kenco Rappor) and it doesn`t even list the ingredients! - just says 300g intant coffee.
Before reading this thread I`d have assumed that this meant 100% pure carb-free instant coffee - but now you`ve got me wondering.
There is a website - which I`m going to have a look at and a free "coffee line" number which I`ll ring if I don`t get any joy with the website.

Keg, also keep in mind that caffine can spike your insulin and stall or slow down weight loss...
I'm all for drinking coffee, in moderation... I'm curious to see what, if anything, will happen with your weight loss if you nix it out or cut down...

Re: Carbs in coffee
Adreliluc, looks like coffee, and probably my beloved splenda diet cokes will have to go bye-bye.
I've stalled out to about a half-pound lost in the last 4 days or so, in my third week of induction. I have to pull out the book again tonight and see what else I might be doing wrong. And by the way, what a fantastic job you've done. I'm not going to argue with your advice.

Re: Carbs in coffee
Will decaf coffee stall you? I certainly didn't know that coffee had carbs. I will have to count it now. I have a 10 oz cup in the morning and a 10 oz cup in the evening. It keeps me from desiring to eat. I don't get cravings, it's just my whole house eats ice cream and cookies in the evenings and coffee seems to pacify me. All decaf of course.
I am 16 days cheat free!
