  • Morning appetite gone?

    Is it normal for my morning appetite to be gone? The past few days I feel like I'm forcing myself to eat food in the morning. This morning I only ate a few slices of pepperoni

    It's only in the morning...I've never NOT wanted to eat breakfast.

    Mine went away too, I realized I need to eat breakfast after going to the gym yesterday at lunch - my body wanted to kick me for not eating and doing 45 min on elliptical.

      I haven't been hungry in the morning either & I've been having the same breakfast as you. Pepperoni, lol! I haven't noticed any energy loss. I just eat when I get hungry now. I'm not sure if this is bad though. We should probably eat a hard boiled egg w/pepperoni just to keep our metabolism going.

      I look forward to hearing opinions on this breakfast topic.

        I have this too... it seems to come and go since I started.... I'm in the no appetite phase right now, but you won't hear me complaining about that! It sure does make losing a little easier...

        Officially Re-Focusing on 12-28-09.

        Was, Am, Will be: 280/222/175ish.
        Started Dec 2005 and lost 105 lbs by mid 2006, maintained loss for the most part until 2009...then really let go & gained some back... lol

        so:
        Restart Progress:
        12/28/09 ~ 235.1
        01/04/10 ~ 229.0
        01/11/10 ~ 229.0 Grrrrr....
        (Induction= only 6lbs but lost 10 inches! yay)
        01/18/10 ~ 227.4
        01/5/10 ~ 226.8
        02/01/10 ~ 222.6

          I don't always feel hungry in the morning either, but I find if I go ahead and eat something that I don't feel hungry the rest of the day either. I read that to get your metabolism going you should try to eat within 30 mins of waking up.

            Started Dec 2005 and lost 105 lbs by mid 2006, maintained loss for the most part until 2009...then really let go & gained some back... lol

              There's been a lot of past discussion on this very topic -- should you or shouldn't you? Some say that it's mandatory to eat breakfast, first thing, to "get your metabolism going." I base this on nothing I've read or studied, but I just find that a little hard to believe.

              Many folks say that you should never eat unless you're hungry -- to do so is to reaffirm bad habits that got us where we are, now.

              Personally, I usually do eat breakfast, on workdays, whether I'm hungry or not, because if I don't I'll be starving by lunch time. On the weekends, though, I wait until I really want it.

                When I DO EAT breakfast, it makes me hungrier the rest of the day. Go figure!

                  I've never had my morning appetite disappear, maybe my body is changing. Usually I have a Jimmy Dean omelette or sausage, but for some reason I haven't been able to stomach them when I wake up.

                      Pre-Atkins, I had that same problem. If I ate a bowl of cereal, or a Danish, I'd be starving by 10:00 a.m. Now, of course, I know why, and find that a proper Atkins breakfast does not make me hungry, again, right away.

                          congrats on getting your ketosis appetite suppression going 24 hours a day.

                          even though you aren't hungry it has been more then 6 hours since you ate so use the 6 hr rule and have a small protein/fat snack with some of your carbs.
                          the new studies done in the past few yrs show that when you eat food your body adjusts chemicals it secretes and your metaoblism increases a bit in response ti the food digesting. don't force a full plate down but a few pepperonis with some veggies would be just fine.

                            A smaller breakfast like that sounds workable. I never realized my body would change like that, I guess it's different for everyone. And I definitely want my metabolism to increase when I wake up!

                              I goes through phases where I am ravenous and then where I counldn't care less. I prefer the latter, but as long as I am feeling good and things are going well, then either way is fine.
