I don't know. BMI seems to work for me. I'm about 5'6" and it says that anywhere from 115-155 is "normal" for me, and 125 was my goal anyway. ::shrug:: Who knows? Maybe it's just weird for some people.

Although, that is a rather big range of numbers.

I think everyone is shaped different and carry weight different. I know its off for me as well. When i was a size 14/16 pants (not that big) it said I was obese. Weird though that i get different results depending on the site I use. Cant remember the last one I used but the one I used this time gave me something different.

Works for me... I definitely felt obese when it said I was obese. I still got 20 more pounds though before I'm all set to go

BTW mothercooter you really lost a lot of weight off of your face ^^ Good job!

LOL the BMI has a label now that says it doesn't apply to those with large frames and well muscled folk. at 14.9% body fat my BMI said I was still over weight

Just curious Forest- are you a man or woman? As a woman I am close to 5'11 and I have been down to 149 and still felt and looked fine. I'm most comfortable at 165 but I think 185 is a little high for our heights. I've always believed in the old standby that at 5' tall you should weigh 100 and for every inch over 5' you should add 5 pounds- making a person that is 5'11's ideal weight 155- always add or subtract 20 pounds both ways to include things like body frame/muscle etc..but I don't think 185 is too low at all. That's just my opinion.

BMI puts you in the perfect range. If you are a little over the high end of the BMI scale, it means you're a little overwieght, or obese. Studies are finding that even being a little overweight still adds great health risks. I think you should shoot for being within your BMI range. Yes, I agree that it makes everyone fairly slender, not railing thin, but that's the healthy goal. You can do it!!! We all can. Good luck!

BMI works for me, except for the "normal weight" part. Supposedly, 100 pounds is within the normal weight range for my height... I'd be a freakin skeleton if I was 100 pounds!!

I think if you're big boned you should shoot for the higher end of the BMI scale. I am. What is important is that you are in the BMI range. A doctor should be able to tell you what your optimum weight is.

Not everyone should shoot for the so-called "perfect" range. There are much better tools to use. I am like 2big, I am considered obese at a great body fat percentage.

I'm medium boned...I guess I'll be going for the very high end of the normal weight range 125 pounds is the max in the normal range for my height.

My BF hates the BMI charts, he's 5'3" and 135 lbs. according to the chart, this puts him at the high end of normal. Except that he's like, almost entirely muscle... so, anyway, he hates them.

well then- some people may not agree with me but I would rather have a guy who was a little overweight than skinny. Maybe 185 would be perfect for you. my boyfriend is 6'3 and 225 and I still think he looks too skinny
