I use a lot of cayenne pepper. I also use lemon, onion, and parmesan cheese to flavor mine. I've quit using soy sauce and anything that is salty. Every time I use salt, my ankles and hands swell up.

steak spice, paprika, a squeeze of lemon juice, salad dressing (makes a good marinade, or I put some on top of chicken or fish before baking) mustard, horseradish, Frank's hot sauce, sliced onions, peppers, lemon or lime slices, parmesan cheese, grated any kind of cheese, ginger and a splash of soy sauce....that's all I can think of offhand for now.

Re: How do you flavor your food?

I'll use fresh and dried spices and herbs, but not the seasoning mixes, which to me are a waste of money anyway as most I've seen have mostly cheap fillers (ie, salt or sugar) and a little of the "active ingredients". The "0 carbs" on the label is not necessarily true, either. The FDA allows carbs up to just under half a gram per "serving size" to be labeled as 0 carbs. Sugar IS carbs, so if there's sugar, there's carbs. (Even strait herbs have some - check at www.fitday.com )

I often simply put olive oil and some flavorful veggies in the pan with the meat to start up the flavoring. Plus add what suits my whim at the moment, typically combos of onion, tomato, garlic, ginger, peppers, salt&pepper, and herbs from my garden depending on the meat, sometimes dried imported spices, vinegar, or horseradish, and often mushrooms.

I like the Mrs. Dash seasoning mixes, to be honest. But even though a seasoning doesn't list a carb count, they do have carbs - to be safe, just stay in moderation and always add a carb for your spices.

                I use Ms Dash's stuff

she has different spices for different meats

                No salt or sugar

                good stuff

Re: How do you flavor your food?

I also like to use Mrs. Dash (garlic and the extra spicy are my favorites) because I don't like to add salt to my meats. I also made some of the spice mixes from Linds'a Low Carb sight like the taco and cajun seasoning. I always have Chipotle, chili powder, paprika, cumin, oregano, onion powder, and garlic powder in my cupboard in case I want to chili spice something.
