like i said people i'm not depending to lose weight with these diet pills but i am experimenting to see on what it will do to my body. so far day one is ok(i forgot to mention i just added the diet pill today), nothing out of the ordinary and i feel just fine. i'll let you know on my progress.
I guess the bad thing about that is, you will never know if you lost the weight with just atkins or with the pills too.

I took diet pills for awhile...everything you can possibley think of (metabolife, xenadrine, xenical, hydroxicut, anorex [isn't that a nice name ], and the infamous stacker pills) and when I was taking Stackers I lost a ton of weight BUT where am I now? Doing Atkins because when I stopped taking them I blew right back up!!! I personally think that when you take them (my experience anyway) it curbes your appretite so much you hardly eat at all. Starvation mode, right??? And I packed on the pounds like you wouldn't believe.

I would definitely stay away from pills. Also, like some other people have said here they can make you feel nauseated, jittery, headaches...you name it!

Uhm, also, I think some of them use caffeine as an additive to help boost your metabolism. As we all know, caffeine is a no-no. *curtsies and exits stage right*

So true. My husband bought a bottle of Relacore for this reason. Then he thought it was making him calmer. It was the Atkins' diet doing the trick. He bought one more bottle and then decided it was a wasted of money. About $36.00+ tax later...nothing but a waste of money.

I talked her out of it, lol. She used to swear by them though. thinking she needed some kinda pill in order to loose weight. I think it was just a placebo for her though. I know she can do it on her own. Now to just get her actually started on the diet, lol she keeps putting it off! Of course we all know that tomorrow never comes witht the "oh im starting tomorrow" for some of us. My mom, like me has real self esteem issues because of her weight and would like to just feel good about herself again. She is 44, not too late at all to start! She had a hysterrectomy last yr and is worried about because of the early menopause, that loosing may be a lot harder. I have seen so many seasoned women on here with AMAZING success stories that im not worried about that. I know she will see great results if she can just stick to it.

I am using my success to lure her in, lol!

menopause might be/could be/maybe will slow her progress but it will be progress all the same. i'm older than your mom and so are others on this board and we are proof that yes, even us older gals can lose and have success!

i'm really glad she is going try things without the pills. i'm another one that thinks they are a huge waste of money and not need if you are doing this woe.

My mom is 50 (I did not write that anywhere) this year and she's getting incredible results. I don't know whether she sticks to by the book, but she's using Dr. Atkins' advice in order to change her habits. I think she did follow the 1971 version back in the day and said it was the only thing that she had ever been able to live with.

                    Re: Fat Burners? (pills)

I take a generic form of Chomium Picolinate (sp?)

its cheap about 4 bucks for a 60 day supply. Its in most diet pills. You can find it at GNC CVS ect ect

Did a little reseacrh on the net ( sorry I didnt read the book) that had both sides of the coin to it

It is supposed to help you metabolize Carbs, Proteins and fat better.

As this is a high fat/protein diet I didnt think it could hurt

                    so far so good

20 pounds gone in 6 weeks

3 1/2 last week alone and that is without any excrecise

and before I get flamed for no exercising I CANT right now

I have a herniated disc in my back and have even a hard time walking

Tell her if she really wants to take something. Take the L-Carnitine G-Mom spoke of. It is recommended by the good doc as it helps metabolize fat and does help provide energy for exercise. I am glad you convinced that it was indeed a waste.
