Is the addiction to carbs really as bad as speed, coke, heroin and alcohol? I dont know anyone who ended up in jail over carbs lol.

If you knew that somebody was about to be in diabetic sugar shock for 5 days would you just day good for you go right ahead and do it and when you are done this is what you need to do to get back in control? that is what going off atkins is going to do to that person's body.

I really do not think any of us could nor would be that kind of person.

      AMEN TO THAT.

In the nearly 5 years that I've been on Atkins, I've seen a bazillion posts about how hard it is to get back on track after a cheat, how its so not worth it, how they gained it all back, etc.

I'm not sure what "real life" you live in, but in my world, I don't cheat. Never have and never would want to. I ate crap for too many years and had the figure to show for it. Dr. Atkins brought me out of that and I ain't goin' there ever again.

I'm just so absolutely sick of reading your nasty posts Betty.
It must be great to be as perfect as you (that's me being sarcastic)
There's such a thing as tough love, but but you are just downright nasty to people and I'm sick of reading your vitriol.
Not everyone is as perfect as you seem to think you are and let me take this opportunity to say that you certainly are NOT...and we don't appreciate your nasty retorts.
You're the one person who can be relied on to be nasty to people...so well done, do you feel good about yourself?
Reading that guys post and this thread I thought to myself, I wager that Betty will have a nasty post to issue and whaddya know...sure enough.

You don't realize how many grams of smack are in an Atkins bar!

This thread went off on a slight tangent huh?

I know you like to be the "fun-loving guy" and I love that about you, Tommy, but I think carb addiction CAN kill you. Look what diseases obesity and carb addiction can cause.

Let me tell you, my carb addiction may not send me to jail, but it is no less pervasive in my life.

There is nothing wrong with someone actually eating well ALL THE TIME. Betty is called "the ideal" and frankly, I would like to emulate her. If we would do less cheating and more eating right, we all be better for it.

I think Betty is blunt, but she always means well, and I think what you said was harsh, Pres.

That's great, and I admire your willpower. But you DO acknowledge that in the world everyone else lives in there ARE people who cheat, right? Nobody is saying we should SUPPORT cheating, but driving them away isn't doing any good for the cause.

And, yeah, like holmes says, it's posts like this that I'm referring to.

So saying you don't cheat suddenly is a negative? I might suggest you ignore those posts that don't agree with your philosophy of how Atkins should be followed in the real life or respond civilly to another Atkineer. If you think it isn't real world to not cheat, fine. I don't think anyone has a problem with that, but don't castigate someone for trying to do it her way by the book.

Finally, if someone has a problem with nastiness in a response of others, contact the person, a mod, or admin where it can be dealt with in private. Throwing insults on a public board is not warranted ever.

This is the reason why threads like these get closed. It isn't because it is a too hot issue. It is that suddenly past personality or philosophy differences are tossed in like grenades. The issue is no longer centerpoint. The thread morphs into a validation or attack on someone not something.

With that this thread is closed until I determine if it is closed for good or until someone else thinks it can be brought back to the original issue at hand.
