Flax Meal - Where do u get it?

I seen alot of great recipes that include flax meal. Where do u buy it and what brand do you use? And is it induction friendly?

I use Bob's Red Mill organic flax meal and get it at Wild Oats... I have also seen it now in some Publixs as well... HTH

I get mine at Kroger or Super Target and I think my walmart is starting to carry it. I prefer the Bob' Redmill Golden flax, but will use the regular too. I had a tbsp mixed into my Mock Danish recipe for breakfast! Yummy! Just keep the use of it limited to 2 tbsp a day or else it may "stop you up" as opposed to "keeping you going".

I find this (Hodgson Mill) at Walmart in the baking aisle. It runs under $2.00 for 12 oz.

I use the Bob's Redmill Golden Flax also. I pick that up at my local PriceChopper. I'm not sure how much that runs as I don't buy that as often as it's more expensive.

It's in all the grocery stores (health food isle or section) that I go to - Wegmans, SuperFresh, Stop & Shop, ShopRite (I am various places at various times in my life and have preferences where to shop but that doesn't mean I'll drive 20 min to go to one grocery store when I could go to another in 5 min). :P

The others have suggested where you can buy it, so I will answer the other part of your question.

12.If you are constipated, mix a tablespoon or more of psyllium husks in a cup or more of water and drink daily. Or mix ground flaxseed into a shake or sprinkle wheat bran on a salad or vegetables

So although large quantities would not be allowed till later once you reach the seeds/nuts rung of OWL, you can add a tablespoon or so to prevent/cure constipation. Start with one Tablespoonsworth and increase till you get the desired effect! But do drink more water to avoid making the problem worse.

I don't buy flax meal.
I grind my own as needed in a coffee grinder.

I also buy whole flax seeds and grind them in a coffee grinder. The pre-ground flax I've bought in the past has a fishy smell to it.

ewwww! I grind my own as well...

I have had rancid flaxmeal before too, but mine didn't smell fishy, it actually smelled like paint

I am with you self-grinders. The shelf-life expectancy of ground flax meal is low, especially if not kept in the fridge, before it goes rancid. The seeds however should be able to be kept for months. I buy a good size bag of the stuff (2-5 pounds) and grind away as needed.
