  • Sausage without wheat?

I did a search and didn't find any thread on this topic, if there is please merge it
I miss sausage so much. But I've read the label of every single sausage here in stockholm and all of them have wheat. Do I have any other option?

If you can't find any without wheat, try making your own! In the States, I've never seen wheat on a sausage ingredient label. You could also order some from the internet, I bet there's tons out there!

Hello Newbie! do you have butcher shops there in Stockholm? Id bet your local butchers that grind their own would be the best source "readymade" for wheatless sausages. If you find one you like, they are very helpful ifyou explain to them what you want (and dont want) in your sausages.

      Good luck!

Can you get Italian sausages in Stockholm? They are pure pork meat... or at least they should be, so maybe at an Italian delicatessen...

Yikes! I use frozen beef sausages as one of my staples. No Wheat.

What about a Kosher supermarket. Kosher food usually has no fillers.

Another type of sausage to look for is German ones! We can buy bratwurst in UK that are just ground pork plus spices.

The biggest problem for me is that I have quiet a small selection because
I eat only halaal. And it seems like all of them have wheat.
So I think my only option is to go to the butcher and ask if he can make
it the way I want, if not I'm afraid I'll have to give up sasauge for a long
                time to come

Making your own is really a good options. Whats halaal?

                    Re: Sausage without wheat?

I think that the 'halal' rule is about how the animal was killed and who touches it during food preparation.

Is it traditional for halal sausages to include wheat? If your local halal butcher cant (or wont) make sausages with just meat and spices then maybe you can buy the meat as a chunk and mince it (or buy the meat ready ground) and make patties out of it which will taste similar to sausages? You could even shape them like sausages if oyu want!

                      Re: Sausage without wheat?

I think halaal is 'permissable things' according to belief... such as, in this case. certain foods. There's also the way animals are slaughtered, but I think there's another word for that. Correct me if I'm wrong anyone.
