I have been trying to recruit my mom for a while now and though she has proof (me) it works and is almost all the way thought the book, she keeps putting it off. "I wanna go to TGI fridays first before I start and try their new appetizers the fried mac n cheese" I dont buy groceries till next week and have nothing to eat." Well she isnt a lost cause I know shes about to start but even when she does start she wont be a good exercise partner, she is a total flake and I cant count on her that way.
Heres the question:
Friends of ours (another married couple) is temporarily moving in with us. She is also seriously overweight. She has mentioned that she has done weight watchers and atkins before with her mom and had success with both but fell off the wagon. She said she would be my walking partner. This is great! But I would LOVE LOVE LOVE! to get her on atkins again. Let me explain the prob...We are sort of new friends. I have known her hubby a while he is my hubby's best friend but I havent known her as long. We are just now getting to the comfort level where we can call each other to invite each other to the park with the kids. I really like her a lot, we have so much in common and I have a feeling we are gonna end up great friends! But, if ya cant tell, I have lost almost ALL of my social skills having become a recluse in the past 4 yrs feeling so horrible about my weight. She is the first "Friend" I have had in 4 yrs now since moving to a new state. Sure i have aquaintances but no friends. Anyway, so how would I bring it up without hurting her feelings or sounding like Im implying she is fat? How dO I ask if she would join atkins with me? She knows Im on it and I made mention of how much weight I lost when they were trying to get me to drink with them last weekend explaining why I am not intrested in cheating. Should I not ask at all and just see if she mentions it after moving in where she will be reminded of atkins at every meal seeing me eat?
