Confession after reading this. I still have not given up my loaded coffee. I am a coffee addict, the smell the taste especially of a strong cup. I'm also an expresso and Ethiopian drinker which are very very strong. patty

Don't think I've ever been to Ryan's...had coffee at IHOP though, and they had ceramic mugs and it tasted pretty good.

My favorite mug is my Edmonton mug. I go bananas if I see my hubby using it for water LOL!

I hear ya, I love the taste of strong coffees as well

It's a hard thing to omit when you enjoy it so much. Especially when it's one thing you look forward to in the morning! I'm going to see how things go after a week of decaf.

That is awful! I hope that person is not diabetic, because that would make what Starbucks did even worse.

I usually don't get any coffee that's brewed there (they brew it WAY too strong). I just like the coffee beans so I can brew at home.

Lisa, while I applaud your efforts...don't forget you have to LIVE with this WOE. Personally I will not give up my coffee and if it impeded my weight loss...well, it came off eventually, in a way I can LIVE with. If you had stalled, truly stalled, my advice might be different, but the way you are going? Keep the coffee and don't deny yourself if you don't have to!

And keep your good mugs too

Thanks for your thoughts on that Denise. Mainly I want to see if coffee is slowing my weight loss. I may not do it right away, more like reduce my caffeine intake, then try to omit it all next week ( ) and see how it goes (emphasis on 'try' LOL! ). If my losses are the same, I'll probably keep it to one cup a day.

IN the event you decide you really must quit or cut down caffeine, try mixing 50% decaf with 50% regular, strong at first, then weaker, then up the % decaf until you are drinking just that. Soon after you may realise you don't finish the cup, but it tastes and smells great anyway. (I did that when I found out I was preg with DS, and at the time drank the equivalent of 8-12 cups/day between coffee, soda, pills & chocolate).

I've been using caffeine to my advantage on Atkins, however, but am at the 1-2 C/day level.

Get yourself a grinder and some decaf coffee beans. Not as good as regular coffee but when you grind it yourself and make it fresh it is pretty good. I have a cup of coffee each day. Somedays it is decaf, somedays half decaf half real coffee, and somedays the totally the real stuff. I always get my water in so that is no biggy. In fact I get a water and a coffee at the same time each morning. One sip of coffee, one gulp of water. LOL
