You bring up a really good point, Kent, about the decision hinging on the personality of the Atkineer. There are a lot of little things that can influence what will work better for you.
For me, I have an extra reason not to bring up the way I eat... I belong to a religion in which a large percentage of members are vegetarian. There's kind of a philosophical divide between those who eat meat and those who don't, so to say the A-word in mixed company among those with the same faith would be like detonating a bomb. Yes, Atkins can be done in a vegetarian way, but I enjoy eating meat and am ethically comfortable with eating animals... however, many vegetarians (of course, especially the vegans) are extremely upset by the Atkins diet because it shows that eating animal products is not bad for cardiovascular health...
So yeah... it has a lot to do with how one's life is structured.
