You bring up a really good point, Kent, about the decision hinging on the personality of the Atkineer. There are a lot of little things that can influence what will work better for you.

For me, I have an extra reason not to bring up the way I eat... I belong to a religion in which a large percentage of members are vegetarian. There's kind of a philosophical divide between those who eat meat and those who don't, so to say the A-word in mixed company among those with the same faith would be like detonating a bomb. Yes, Atkins can be done in a vegetarian way, but I enjoy eating meat and am ethically comfortable with eating animals... however, many vegetarians (of course, especially the vegans) are extremely upset by the Atkins diet because it shows that eating animal products is not bad for cardiovascular health...

So yeah... it has a lot to do with how one's life is structured.
No stats. Not weighing anymore ever. Will post "before and after" pictures when I want to. The end.

      Re: Am I paranoid?

Im with Kent. I told anyone who asked, and a few ppl who didnt. My reason was that I knew If everyone knew I was on it I wouldnt dare cheat around them and Im the type of person who doesnt like ppl to know I failed so this again is why I told them. I would work even harder to suceed. I only got negative response from one person and I wasnt even talking to her she over heard me explaining it to my mom. She was another who hadnt read the book and thought the induction was the entire diet. She was all..."You need carbs to be healthy!" So I explained how you do get them but from the right sources and you gradually add back other foods as you go. I could tell she still thought it wasnt a great idea but agreed that sounded healthy.

I don't really tell people. I guess because I don't want to hear their negative comments.

I pretty much just tell them if they ask - and usually then only that I don't eat white sugar or flour. Not paranoid, just don't see the need to get into a discussion about the evils of Atkins with people who don't have a clue as to what they're talking about!
