  • Kill me...

    ...please.

Day one of a new diet, and what do I do? Leave my oh-so-carefully packed Induction-legal breakfast and lunch at home. On top of this, I was late to work (although I left on time) because of an accident. (Apparently people wake up stupider on Monday mornings, myself included.) And of course when I got here, there were mountains of paperwork waiting for me.

There's a massive food court in the lower level of my building - at least five coffee places, a couple of bakeries, any kind of lunch food you could think of. I am so angry and stressed right now, all I want to do is eat.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the only thing I have here at work that's legal is a can of tuna.

So why again shouldn't I just scrap this whole thing?

It never ceases to amaze me of how easy and how effective this ***diet*** is!!

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

      Re: Kill me...

Okay so you are having a bad day. DO NOT scrap the whole thing in, you can use this as a practice of unplanned happenings. You have tuna so that will be something until one of the lunch places open or you can see if any of the breakfast places have eggs. If its any kind of lunch place you can think of, you have your lunch, just get a salad or hamburger. Or go out at lunch to the grocery store if there is one around and get yourself some emergency snack foods to keep in your desk or office fridge if you have one as well as pick something up for lunch.

Don't scrap it in, for if you do, in a couple weeks you will be at day one again when you could be down 5-10 lbs already.

Use this as a learning experience. Hope your day gets a lot better!!
May you all be losers, Sher

        --deep breath--

        Okay, I'm calm now.

in a couple weeks you will be at day one again when you could be down 5-10 lbs already
Thanks, Sher. For this reason alone, I am going to try to fight this thing through. Besides, it took me a while to work up the courage to give up my favorite poison - coffee - and there's no point in resetting the clock on that one.

And yes, Richt, tuna is nice but it's not nearly enough food to last me until 5pm. Didn't want to have to spend the crazy amounts of money that the food court requires, but better that than nipping all my newly-formed good instincts in the bud.

A can of Tuna with some mayo has lasted me 8 hours several times. Well it's not a can any more its in the "pouch". Tuna w/mayo and 3oz bags of almonds (not induction) can get you buy for a long time.

p.s. bet you won't forget your induction foods tomorrow, or at least I would not..I got hung out to dry a few times and clung to resolve...suffered all thru it barely hanging on...now i never ever leave home without baggies of survival....
Maybe you need to get up extra early and really get a step ahead. I had to do that. I've been getting up at 5:30 for 75 days. I leave nothing to chance... I WANT THIS...

                  Re: Kill me...

Just like Jess said--that which does not kill us only makes us stronger!

This has happened to me before, and you can bet I didn't forget my food ever again!

I too get up early and prepare my foods for the day--I leave my house at 6:30, and I don't get HOME until 6 on most days, somedays 7:30, so I know about how to manage food for 12+ hours. Omelettes or hardboiled eggs are easy and quick, and I can make those while I do my hair/makeup, or pack my gym clothes. For lunch I pack a salad with grilled chicken (buy a huge pack of grilled chicken tenders, cook them all at once, and voila! you've got at LEAST a week's worth of lunch protein!) and for a snack, I bring pepperoni, mozzarella cheese, or beef jerky that I make myself. This keeps me full and gives me energy to teach for 7 hours, do 2 hours of after-school tutoring, AND work out for 1 hour!

Really, there's no excuse about having no time to do it--if it's important in life, you make time for it!

                    Re: Kill me...

It's actually not a time issue. I wasn't kidding with the "oh-so-carefully packed" bit. I had prepped everything the night before, packed it all up nicely, and put it in the fridge. This morning I took it out of the fridge, set it on the counter, and...left it there. See what I mean about waking up stupider on Monday morning?

However, I'm pleased to report that I managed to score some legal breakfast. One of the bakeries has a platter with eggs, cheese, bacon, mushrooms, onions, hash browns, and toast. I skipped the toast, picked out all the hash browns, and ate the rest. Finishing a nice legal cup of tea as I type.

You guys are cool - thanks for the ideas and support. And yeah, I tend to have to learn things the hard way.
