  • I can't go...

    ...to the bathroom. Seriously, I am kind of shy about posting stuff like this, but it's been 4 days and I'm getting a bit nervous.

    Since childhood, I've struggled with staying regular. I've been taking a tablespoon of flax for the past two days but nothing yet. I eat all my vegetables every day. For the past two days I've also cut down on my cheese consumption because that has historically tended to slow things down. I'm not sure what else I should be doing.

    I'm also not sure how long I should go without going before I really start to panic.

    Oh, I've been drinking all my water too. Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Flax, psyllium husk and wheat bran are 'bulk-forming' laxatives. They work by absorbing water and expanding in your gut. That expansion or bulkiness stimulates your body to move things out.

    These laxatives take time to work. They also require water. So make sure you are drinking at the very least the daily water requirement.

    I don't know which vegetables you are eating, but you might want to look at the fiber content of them. If you're eating something like lettuce mostly, you might want to incorporate other veggies into your diet.
