  • I'm new-Help with menu planning please.

OK, I've introduced myself in the intro thread. Thanks to those who replied!

I've been on Atkins for 5 full days now and still haven't experienced that muggy headed feeling. Can someone let me know if I'm eating the right things.

I'll tell you what I ate exactly and honestly for yesterday and today.

    Yesterday:

    Breakfast:
2 Hard Boiled Eggs with salt and pepper
    6 slices of turkey bacon
    2 slices of American Cheese
    coffee with half and half

    Lunch:
8 oz. Steak, dry pan fried
Romaine Lettuce Salad with Bacon Bits, Shredded Cheddar Cheese and Ranch
    Water to drink

    Dinner:
6 chicken drumsticks, skinless, broiled, with Franks Red Hot Sauce
Small bowl of red seedless grapes
    Water to drink

    Snack:
4 slices from a brick of Jalepeno Cheese

    Today:

    Breakfast:
3 eggs scrambled with half and half cooked in Country Crock Margarine in pan
2 slices of American cheese on top
    coffee with half and half

    Lunch:
4 chicken drumsticks, skinless, broiled with Franks Red Hot Sauce
Romaine Lettuce Salad with Bacon Bits, Shredded Chedder Cheese & Ranch
    Water

    Dinner:
2 Hamburger Patties w/melted Jalepeno Cheese on top
Small bowl of red seedless grapes
    Sprite Zero

    Snack:
    Nothing yet!

Please let me know if I am doing things right. Any suggestions will be helpful.
Boy do I miss toast with my eggs and coffee!!!!!

    Hi Sherry,

Two things that I see immediately are grapes. Grapes aren't allowed until the Ongoing Weight Loss phase. Also, half and half is not permitted until OWL phase either. You can have whole cream though.

Make sure that your cheese for an entire day doesn't exceed 3-4 ounces.
You can have 3 cups of salad vegetables (there are lots of vegetables on this list other than just lettuce)
OR you can have 2 cups of salad vegetables and 1 cup of "other" vegetables from the list.
You really really really need to get these veggies in every day. You need them for the vitamins/nutrients and the FIBER. Spread the veggies out over all 3 meals as well.

You also need to get a minimum of 64 oz of Plain water in every day. Not sure if you are doing that or not. More water is better.

Thanks for your prompt response. I'll make those changes.

Sorry if I seem like I'm jumping the gun, my friend that I will see this Friday is giving me the Dr. Atkins book. Until then, I was just trying to do what I thought was correct!

I also suggest plugging what you eat in fitday. www.fitday.com. Its free! Make sure you measure out things like, cream in your coffee.. butter... dressing... stuff like that- you'd be surprised how fast carbs can creep up when you are guesstimating how many! Hope that helps.
