Re: Does anyone know about popcorn?
Kent, I have a question for you there friend.
How do I know if I am past that stage. I moreless have just been on induction the entire time. I usally eat a salad consisting of Lettuce, Red Onion, Cucumber, Tomatoe everyday. Other then that the only veggie I eat is really mushrooms. Not because I don't like veggies, just because I ain't to sure on whats good and whats not. So how do you know when your entering or exiting a rung? if there is a thread that explains it feel free to point me in that direction!!!

Re: Does anyone know about popcorn?
Atkins is a 4 phase weight management diet. It is divided into weight loss phases and a weight maintenance phase. The weight loss phases are Induction, On-Going Weight loss, Pre-Maintenance. The weight maintenance phase is Maintenance.Originally posted by FrankoRockKent, I have a question for you there friend.

Induction is a minimum length of 14 days. People who have a high metabolic resistance to weight loss may opt to remain on Induction longer than 14 days. The vast majority of us, however, can move to the On-Going Weight loss phase, where we can add more food groups to our diet and eat at a higher carb level than Induction, while we continue to lose weight. As one mod Robbie wrote: OWL is the phase where you individualize Atkins.
Dr. Atkins advised us to lose the last 5-10 pounds in the Pre-Maintenance phase because that is the phase where we begin learn about how our bodies maintain weight loss.
Please re-read those chapters in DANDR 2002 that deal with these phases. You'll do yourself a favor by learning how to do Atkins in a healthful manner and learn how to keep the weight off when you get to goal.

Re: Does anyone know about popcorn?
Corn is a grain, so it's added during the Grain Rung of OWL.

Re: Does anyone know about popcorn?
Grains are typically grasses. Corn is a type of grass, like wheat. Foodie history, but the word "corn" in Elizabethan England was a general term for any grain (oats, barley, wheat). If you look at really old cookbooks, corn is refered to as Indian corn and cornmeal is called "Indian meal". The "Indian" was used to differentiate it from other "corns" or grains. It was also called "maize".
