  • I'm new

    Hi everyone,
I am new to Atkins as well as to this site, I am here for some support. I am currently at 222 lbs at and 24 years old. I am getting married in Feb and I want to lose about 40 lbs by then. Do you guys think that it's possible. Yesterday I started with Atkins and I also started going to the gym. I feel great!! The problem with me is that I get stuck and then I get disincouraged, I HATE WHEN THAT HAPPENES. I am planning on weighing myself once a week, I will keep you all posted. Wish me luck

Jes 40 lbs is no problem. But I would try not to put a "by" date on it. 40 in 4 months may be a little fast.

        Hi,

I started Atkins when I was 24 as well. For the first few months, I lost a size per month (I've been told a size is 10-15 pounds) so for me, it was possible to lose 40 pounds in four months and I'm sure you can as well.

Best of luck with your goal!

Jes--I'm sure you can do it, or at least by incredibly close to a 40lb. loss by then. My only suggestion is don't weigh yourself at the end of the first week, but at the end of the second week, when you've done your 14 days on induction. After that, I'd weigh no more than weekly.

Glad you've joined, and best wishes!

Hi Jes and welcome to the board.
It is full of supportive and knowledgable people from all over the world. If you ever get the feeling that you're gona cheat, come on here and read and post. It will make you feel tons better and hopefully not to cheat!
I lost 42lbs in 4 months last year, altho I had some weekends where I drank alcohol. Alcohol makes me stall for a week which is totally pants when you are counting the weeks down to ur goal. Alcohol does effect everyone differently but I just thought I'd warn you. Maybe save it for Xmas or New Year.
I'm sure you will do it, esp if you're going to a gym. I'm a firm believer in the gym and try and go 3-4 times a week. Try and get some personal training sessions booked in if you can.
I'm sure you can do this, keep up the good work and let us know how much you lose in ur first 2 weeks!

Hi Jes! I'm not trying to rain on your parade, but some people don't lose 40 lbs that quickly, most of us, however, do. Chances are higher if it's your first time around, and, as angelstar said, go to the gym. The gym is *crucial*, it makes you look better not just weigh less. Welcome to the board.
