  • Something weird is happening here

When I did (a mostly-clean) Induction back in the spring (for all of two whole days), I had massive appetite suppression by the second day. I could go several hours without even thinking about food or feeling hungry.

This time, it's just the opposite. I'm on Day 4 of an even cleaner Induction than I did before, and I actually feel more hungry than before I started this WOE! I'm eating about every two to three hours, and it just doesn't seem like enough.

Why isn't my appetite suppressed this time? I figured I was in ketosis because I've dropped about 2 pounds since I started and I actually look slightly smaller around the middle. Is it possible that I'm not in ketosis yet? Or maybe that I'm actually not eating enough? (I don't have testing strips and don't plan on buying them; purchasing legal food already sucks up more than I can comfortably afford.)

For the curious, here's what I've eaten so far today:

    - herbal tea with a tiny splash of cream and 1.5 Splenda packets
    - 2 slices of Induction-safe quiche (the recipe said it had about 5 carbs per
    slice)
    - 2 deviled egg halves
    - tuna mixed with 3 tablespoons mayo
    - 2 cups romaine lettuce with olive oil, vinegar, & lemon pepper seasoning
    - about 32 oz of water to drink so far

I know the Doc says that if we're hungry, we're doing something wrong. This is just really throwing me off because I ate less the last time than I'm eating now and I was more than satiated before.

Uhm... when I did clean induction, I was starving, like, famished, ready to eat anything that wasn't moving, for a few days, I don't remember exactly how long though. The only way I could make it through clean was to keep snacks like, everywhere I would be so I could have something. I don't know whether it helps or not, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Do you track on FitDay? Do you have the physical signs of ketosis? I don't know if my calculations are right for the number of carbs you're having, but is it 5g NET or 5g Total for the quiche? and where are the carbs coming from (veggie)??

Oh, and for pete's sake woman. Drink your water, at least 64oz, it flushes the yuckies out of your body.

Double check the mayo and the lemon pepper seaonsing for sugar. Try increasing your fat too to control hunger.

Also, going along with Lyssie, I was hungry the first several days of induction. You're not necessarily doing anything wrong. Just double check what you're eating, and be sure to accurately count your carbs. And if you're really hungry, then eat something.

I had sugar in my mayo (regular hellmans. ), and it totally knocked me out. It made me ravenously hungry. So I Just stay away from mayo all together, until i can find a safe one.
