you can join our ongoing open enrollment monthly crunch chasllenge to firm up your ab muscles.

you know your body will be redistributing fat for several months adjusting to your new smaller body so your flab may firm up on its own but exercise couldn't hurt.

Keep eating healthy, and keep working your core muscles. Your skin will look as it will (there is not much to make it magically snap back), but what you can do is increase the muscle mass and tone underneath it. It may sag a bit at the bottom, but your mid-abdominal muscles will really begin to show. Additionally dropping in BF % may help too.

I just recently determined my original goal might have been too high, so now I am trying to drop it by another 10 pounds. You could stay at 200 pounds, and simply build muscle mass while losing the excess fat. 200 pounds at 8-9% BF is a lot different looking than 200 pounds at 12-14%.

Re: I need to Tone Up

it's all about diet ab workouts and cardio if you want to shape that midsection. consistency is the key and you don't even have to do many at a time, just break it up in sets of 30-50 each throughout the day. i have an ab roller and do about 500 of those at night, 200-300 flutter kicks aka scissor kicks, 100-200 decline sit-ups, 100 or so leg lifts and other various exercises. you don't need expensive equipment or go to the gym, all you need to know is how to do the exercises and you can do them right at home.

diet + ab workouts + cardio + consistency= 4-6 pack abs(i'm not kidding). i never thought it was possible for me to have abs but i'm making the impossible possible.

Heya Matt. Listen to Kent - he's totally right. Weights help flab. There's also moisturizer, like shea or cocoa butter - I don't know how opposed boys are to that or not but I think that helps too. I've been doing abs (crunches since situps sometimes make people work their hip flexors more than abs, and leg raises) since uhmm.. 1.5 years ago, and I don't have a 6 pack or anything like that, but my stomach flab is defined... as a starting point.

Since you're already doing situps, you might want to vary it a bit... like do the crunches, (with oblique variations), leg raises, reverse curls, etc. to see if your muscles like it a bit better. I do 200 crunches and 100 leg raises a day, it really works.

Then there's the whole cardio thing that djfmf hit on 'cause that is a necessity.

You may also want to take a look at some of Sarah's pictures (iyamamaschke). She only trains her abs 1-2 days a week, but does it with weights. She doesn't do high reps, 3 or 4 sets of 10-12 repetitions but with increasing weights. As she continues to drop body fat you can see her 6 pack in the making!!

Re: I need to Tone Up

Thaks Joy I train my abs like I train my other body parts after all it is a muscle just like everything elese. all the sit ups in the world won't make you any smaller you will get toned though but, you can overtrain your body by doing that so I choose not to and I have great results with that. You need a full body routine to work your entire body your eating has to be totally in check and as you lose more and more weight you will begin to see all your hard work. Lifting weights will lower your body fat and keep you at around the same weight if you don't mind building muscle you may want to get into a full weight training routine with heavy weights tht will help you cut up lose fat and stay the same weight.

I'm not opposed to using that stuff, works well for stretchmarks especially, but it gets stuck in our hair...

Hey! The best workout I know to tone your body in all places is Tae Bo. Seriously, it's been amazing for me and anyone I know who's done it. Maybe try it out, see how you like it. I love it!
