Re: new mom in a slump

Amber, sounds like things are coming together for you and you are rethinking and setting some practical goals...
Get that food organized, for the week, because once the week gets rolling...you will be tired, hopefully not too tired to keep up...
Work on getting those 64 oz, and plan certain amounts by differing times...I make sure I have had 64oz by noon...
Exercise is very important, but probably need to be approached carefully so you are successful!
This all take some thinking, not just eating...Planning and preparing...Giving it alot of thought, and you should progress and get stronger and stronger, once the weight starts to come off, the motivation will really fire up! You will find yourself doing all sorts of fun things....
You are on your way...step by step! Don't be hard on yourself, be good to yourself, set yourself up to win...step by step.

good for you now have you got a journal started in the journal chats since we got some other new mommies on the board who can give you some tips for getting it all organized too.

and check out msnicksmon for how using your baby's body weight during fun play bonding time for you and him can also be weight bearing exercise.

There was a couple reasons I stopped Atkins when I found out I was pregnant. 1.) A lot of people around me were not supportive of this WOE and when I announced I was pregnant, the first thing out of many of their mouths were "you need to stop your diet". Even though I explained over and over how Atkins is a way of life and I was on maintenance they did not understand. I felt extremely pressured to stop. My mother would pay attention to what I ate! I was also a little concerned myself after they started saying this and I began to question whether I would be able to continue Atkins and still provide my baby with all the nutrients.

2.) Of course after a while I got major cravings and I decided that this is the one time in my life I can gain weight and it be ok. I wanted to live it up and give into my cravings.

I regret it big time now!!!!

Oh and by the way I have drank 60 oz of water already
and got 20 min on the elliptical machine! Now I am going to do my crunches!!! It feels good to get the endorphins going again!

Thank You everyone for the encouragement, you really helped me and probably prevented me from quiting.

This time around make sure you go thru the OWL rungs all the way if you didn't last time. In atkins maintanence, you can be eating all of the food groups, and a huge variety of healthy foods, including fruits, starchy veggies, nuts, whole grains, dairy etc. Very few ppl even know I am following atkins anymore now that I'm in maintanence.

You got some great advice on here. I just wanted to let you know that it is ok to be exhausted right now. Having a child is a major transition, especially the first. Give it some time and your energy will return.
