Re: Pimples.
I think it's either your body not yet having adjusted to the higher fat content of your diet, or you may have eated too much of your fat in the form of animal fats. Eating a lot of chicken with the skin on almost always makes me break out.
But also, though zits plagued me early on in Atkins, my complexion actually got clearer than before I started, after a few weeks.~Susan

Re: Pimples.
Actually....testosterone is one thing that causes acne, however, mostly in younger men...ahem..no offense...not saying you are lacking in testosterone or anything, Chris!

Re: Pimples.
Most researchers agree that acne isn't caused by greasy foods or chocolate. The cause isn't definitive, however, hormones, oil from products or environment are considered to be causes.
Stress can be a factor too, and changing your way of eating is pretty stressful.

That's never been an issue. I have enough to spare, if anyone's a bit short.Originally posted by G-MomActually....testosterone is one thing that causes acne, however, mostly in younger men...ahem..no offense...not saying you are lacking in testosterone or anything, Chris!
Thank goodness for testosterone; it's one of the main reasons that it's so nice being a guy!-Chris

I've battled mild/moderate acne since i was a teenager.Originally posted by G-MomMost researchers agree that acne isn't caused by greasy foods or chocolate. The cause isn't definitive, however, hormones, oil from products or environment are considered to be causes.

Stress is definately a factor! I always break out when stressed.
My dermatologist also says that foods do not cause it, however if you are eating greasy food, then touching your face, that can aggrevate it. I've always found that hand creams will make me break out. Because once on my hands I touch my face, the excess oil ends up on my already oily skin.
I've also found the less I do to my skin the better. the less products I use and the gentler I am on my face, the less I break out.
Try Googling 'Aspirin Mask'. It's a home remedy type thing, you crush up/disolve regular aspirin and use it as a mask on your face once/twice a week. I have done it (and i was a skeptic) and it really does help (and makes your skin unbelievably soft).Jen, 39, F

Re: Pimples.
OK come on everybody - wash your face!
Wash your hands after handling oily foods with fingers!
Don't pinch pimples & get them infected!
Avoid use of highly drying products on face or excessive skin stimulation - oil production may increase as a result.
