  • Is Fitday worth it?

I've used Fitday online before, and was wondering if you think the downloadable version would be worth it? 30 bucks is alot, is it so much better than the online version?

oh, fitday thinks my Induction totals are bad

    Re: Is Fitday worth it?

When I use Fitday, I get borderline obsessed with what I eat, and it almost develops into an eating disorder. As a result, I like to keep a general tally in my head, because I'd like to develop somewhat of a lifelong way of eating. I have yet to accomplish this goal, but would like to in the near future. As for Fitday, it has been a useful tool for some, not so much for others. If you have a tendency to become obsessed and lose focus of what really matters on any lifestyle, then it would negate any positive effects. Otherwise, it's extremely useful and eye opening! The downloadable version has few extra settings but I'd just stick to the online version if I were you. Best of luck.

I know one person who bought it here on the board and she really liked it, but if I paid $30, I would like it too. Most of us just use the free copy. Wait for awhile and after Christmas if you think you would like it, buy it then.

The only negative I have ever heard about the download version is that you can't migrate your web totals into it and your current custom foods. That alone discouraged me from purchasing it. I had a ton of custom foods at that point, and she couldn't be faced with doing them and my stats over again.

              Re: Is Fitday worth it?

I got the PC version when we were about to go away for a couple of weeks and I was worried about planning and keeping track of my eating as I wouldnt have internet access.

It was great to be able to use it on my laptop then, and I do like the easier way it has of allowing you to enter whole recipes easily by dragging ingredients in to make a new custom food.

Also it allows many more custom foods, favourites etc to be displayed, whereas with the online free fitday I found I had to delete some to allow new ones to be entered.

BUT it was a pain to re-enter all my frequently used custom foods, and go back through my online account to copy all my weight info (it was the place I had entered my changing weight for a couple of years so that took some time to do!!).

I would say if someone hasnt been using the online fitday for very long (so wont have to spend time retyping stuff like weights and custom food entries) it would be worth the $30 for the convenience of being able to use it offline.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Personally, I'm just fine with the free version. Until I find that it doesn't suit my needs, I can't see spending the money. That $30 can buy a couple of shirts at Old Navy, for frippin' sake!!!

                Good luck!

                    Re: Is Fitday worth it?

I bought the pc version and it was very confusing for me. I sent it back and asked for my money back and now use the free version. i would say don't waste your money. If you really want a software to do what fitday does, i would research different ones that may be more worth the money. There are a lot of programs out there for things like this.

I got the pay-for version and really like it. Yes it was a bit of a bore transferring things from the free version, but once that was done and once I got used to the differences I found it a great improvement (for the reasons that Elizellen has already mentioned).
For me, it was money well spent.

Is it true that with the bought version, that you can't go back to previous days and change/add daily information entered? I had read this somewhere else.

Thanks Sally, then I am going to get it. And where I don't have much to transfer, that's even better.
