Are they actually worth trying and are they similar to pasta? Thanks.

Re: shirataki noodles?
They make a good base for a sauce, but they aren't really like pasta at all. More chewy. More like the clear noodles, as 2big said.
You need to rinse them very well before cooking as when they come out of their liquid they're smelly.
Definitely worth a try, I'd say. Before and after:

Re: shirataki noodles?
Unfortunately, shiratikis turned into a disaster and a half. My bf and I thought they were vile and ended up just playing with them instead. I must say that they are quite the toy replacement lol.We felt like children swirling them around.

Re: shirataki noodles?
I've not tried them, but I've had the "green bean" noodles from our local oriental market. They are clear noodles made of green bean starch and they soak up whatever flavor broth you put them in. Addictive little things, chewy too.
Now, I've heard of people using the tofu noodles, but I didn't really like those too well.
Thankfully I had a Japanese friend take me through the Oriental market and show me what was what. Not all the packages are in English. lol.
