When we overeat the protein, the body will convert that to even more glucose which could cause insulin responses, fat storage, etc?
I need to break this up

There are some organs in our bodies that need glucose and will get it from the vegetables we eat on induction
there are NO BODY parts that need dietary carbohydrates as their fuel source. this is tricky. there are 3 body parts that need glucose as fuel red blood cells cause they got no mitochondras, parts of the retna, and some deep brain tissues.

AND it will create it from the excess protein that we eat. Is that correct?
Glucose can be self made in the human body from fats, proteins and carbohydrates and energy system waste molecules.
See the word is GLUCOSE a 6 carbon molecule which is a sugar which is a carbohydrate and this is were the confusion comes from. since glucose is needed and it is a carbohydrate molecule the body must need dietary carbohydrates is the bad logic conclusion many fokl make.

We Atkineers need the dietary carbs for the vits and minerals they possess and to slow down our weight loss as we get closer to goal but we can self make all the glucose we need if we keep eating our Atkins correctly and have body fat to shed.

and as a side note did you know making our own glucose from those sources needs more energy ptoduced from glycolussi of the glucose by products and the proteins so when we do use those means we are in effect getting free fat burning to pay the ATP costs involved

see our inner workings on Atkins use more fuel to make fuel. this is part of that metabolic advantage Dr Atkins takes about but never explains real good details.

Re: My PT's thoughts on our WOL...

Please can you let me know ur thoughts? I'm abit worried now. I do plan on moving on to OWL when I reach 11 stone. Then I've got 14lbs to go which I guess that I need to lose slowly?! I've only ever been on Induction when doing this WOL as I always thought that I had lots of weight to lose and the book said I could do Induction for up to 6 months safely. So when I get down to 154lbs, I will start to move up the rungs.
oops sorry was so buzy brain leaking we all missed this.

you need to move to OWL nush sooner then with 14 pounds to go. Yes your weight loss will slow down a bit but not that much the slow losing part is the premaintnance phase and that is for the last 5-10 pounds.

Owl is the great food experient with you as both the experiienter and the lab rat.

I haven't used my house of Atkins anology in a while so here goes.
think oif induction as the foundation. you want to build it solid and sturdy your want excellent workmanship and quaitiy ingredients in your cement ( that would be the food and being cheat free). but you can not like in a foundation only house.

OWL is the framing each rung a part of that framing and each food an individual log for the framing. Since you are both th4 owner, the contractor, and the laborer you want to inspect eat part of the framing carefully and each and every log for any defects ( that would be your body not tolerating a food or getting cravings from it or the whole rung) you want to build this framing strong cause it is going to have to hold up the premaintnenace roofing and withstand all the high carb storms life will throw at you. when you are sure your House of Atkins eating is framed well you move to that roofing job and you don't want a hurry shotty job theri either so take your time and reaseamine the higher rungs and those you couldn't tolerate and see if in fact you can now. once you get the roof completely done you move into your house of Atkins eating at maintnenanv=ce and add the finsihsing touches.

Sso you ready to move to OWL and work on that framing?

When I read what a lot of well-meaning folks say about Atkins, it reminds me of Jim Carrey in Ace Ventura. I can't help but picture these people moving their butt cheeks manually and saying, "Blah blah blah Atkins Blah blah spleen" out their behinds.

Try it sometime. The picturing, not the actual doing the butt cheek thing. Well, not publically, anyway.

Thank you 2big for everything. I'm still not totally clued up on all the science bits that you have written but i'm gona read it a few more times. I was cr*p at science when I was at school!
I guess my trainer does want to make money from me and obviously would offer a consultation! But I was concerned that because he does this for a living that some of the points he made were right. Thing is, cos I'm so stupid with science stuff, I wouldnt know what is right and what is wrong.
Thank you for your house idea, it was cute! So you think I should move on to OWL now? I'm going to move on in the New Year as I know from now until after Xmas I wont lose any weight as some of my social occassions will have some drinking involved and I always stall for at least a week when I drink alcohol. Not that I'm too worried about losing anymore lbs. I'm at my lightest weight I've known for years and I'm happy to stick to this until after Xmas. I'm going to keep up with the gym and Extended Induction so I can still fit in to my Xmas party dress!

I can make the sugar talk down several levels if you want I was jsut giving you science for his sciense sorry.

Glad you like the house. OWL is not any thing to fear you are only going to add back 5 yummy net carbs of those incdtion veggies as your first addiiton. And you can squat on those rungs for as long as you want. I "squatted" on rung 1 nad 3 for over 6 months and dropped almost 100 pounds

You might find staying on plan easier if you do move on up the OWL ladder, as then you will have more choices and wont 'have' to eat/drink something 'illegal', which sometimes sends people into a tailspin where they decide that as they have 'cheated' once they might as well eat what they want now and 'start again tomorrow'! And as we all know - tomorrow never comes!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
