Is soy as bad as some claim it is? Some doctors (more than likely wack doctors) have accused it of causing everything from cancer to thyroid dysfunction. Are such claims unfounded? I want to lighten my coffee with soy milk. Man, I've been hanging around so many veggies, musicians, vegans, hippies and tree huggers that I'm craving soy. Thoughts would be appreciated.

Re: Soy?
I think soy in moderation, as most things, is fine. A little soy milk in your decaf coffee or tea (watch the caffeine!) is just fine. If you're only eating soy products as your source of protein, then there might maybe, possibly be a problem. There are wiser birds than I on this board who will have more information . . .
Good luck.

Re: Soy?
soy does interfer with thyroid hormone usage so if you are hypothyroid you need to be consistant in the amount you consume and the titration of your medication will handle your soy intake.
soy is bad for estrogen fed cancers as it has a natural plan ester that mimics estrogen.
soy is npt as heart healthy as was first reported and the AHA was removing itsa endorsement of the soy servings for heart health earlier this yr in the news,
soy is a good protein source but it is becaoming a major allergen in the US making the top 7 and requiring a listing on foods now containing it. you will find soy in just about everything other then natural nontreated foods.by the book atkinseer
