  • A Little Concerning.

I am realizing that for me to stick to this diet I have to be extremley head strong, even if it makes me look weird. I am now on my 10th day approx. of the atkins (induction) and I am wondering if my diet is at all weird to you.

    For Breakfast:
Coffee w/ 3 pkts of splenda
    (I love my sweets)

3 eggs, usually scrambled (the easist way)
If I am hungry hungry, then 4

4 pieces of bacon (oscar meyer)

    For Lunch:
Tuna Fish w/ Helmans REAL mayonaise
    Diet Dr. Pepper

    Dinner:
Jennie-o Turkey Burger w/ Swiss Cheese
    Hamburger Seasoning from McCormick
    4-pieces of bacon

Is this healthy? I dont like veggies at all! I like what I am doing and I am seeing results, but I am still concerned. I drink 8 glasses of water a day, and have my multi-vitamin.

    Re: A Little Concerning.

very few of us started atkins loving veggiees either you need them so eat them there are over 40 veggies on that list.

loving sweets is wat helped you need Atkins now is the time to kill the sweet thooth
in induction we have a 3 serivngs a day limit and each packet is a serivngs and most sodas are 1.5 servings so you are over on your sweetmenr limit.

the biggest help you can give yourself is to invest the $7 in yourself and buy a copy of DR ATKINS NEW DIET REVOLUTION 2002 copyright. read it cover to cover and learn how to do Atkins correctly. don't correctly your "weird eating habits" can be part of your Atkins but yiou got to add the veggiew and loinit the sweets.

Hi Angel, Glad you found us. One of the problems with a diet like yours is constipation. You don't have any fiber there and thats one of the reasons we eat our veggies. You can get fiber in a pill, but you can't get all the vitamins and minerals that you can with veggies. Also, we do need to kill that sweet tooth. 2big, the lady that just posted had a case aday diet cola habit and broke it, so you can also.
      Glad you joined.

Yep. You're going to have to make it a top priority and plan, plan, plan!!

        For Breakfast:
Coffee w/ 3 pkts of splenda
        (I love my sweets)

3 eggs, usually scrambled (the easist way)

3 packets of splenda just burned up your entire daily sweetener allottment. The bacon (or any other processed meat, for that matter) is okay 2-3 times a week, but more than that is pushing it.

        For Lunch:
Tuna Fish w/ Helmans REAL mayonaise
        Diet Dr. Pepper
Tuna w/ mayo is a great choice for lunch.

        Dinner:
Jennie-o Turkey Burger w/ Swiss Cheese
        Hamburger Seasoning from McCormick
        4-pieces of bacon
Overall, a decent dinner, but again, your sodium intake for the day with the bacon is through the roof. As both Lynne and 2big mentioned, you need to incorporate veggies into your menus. I can't think of a single person here that got fat because they loved eating veggies.

The old saying goes, "If you always do what you've done, you'll always get what you've got." Choosing to skip out on the veggies hasn't exactly worked for you (or the rest of us here!) up to this point. I don't imagine that's going to change if you don't start making the changes!

You will find that as you progress through the stages of this WOE your tastes will change. When you make the decision to cut out all the sweetener, you will find that you'll start to taste the natural sugars in things like broccoli. I know it sounds far-fetched, but it's true - I promise you

I'm going to reiterate the need for you to read (or re-read, as the case may be) DANDR. You've done pretty well, but there is definitely room for menu improvement for you. Check out the journal stats section and do some searching here on the forum for "induction menu". You'll pull lots of great information and ideas.

It's important to remember that being on Atkins isn't a license to eat all the bacon/sausage/etc you want. That's not how the program was written or intended to be used or interpreted as. As with all things, it doesn't take much to bend and twist things to make them easier for ourselves. With Atkins there is most definitely a danger of morphing it into the Weight Watchers equivalent spending all your points on Skinny Cow Ice Cream and Fat Free Potato Chips. While SCIC and FFPC's ARE workable within the WW program, it's not how the program was intended to be used. The same holds true for things like bacon/sausage/cream/cheese etc with Atkins!

Keep it up!! You're already making changes that put you WELL on your way to where you want to be!

          angel--
Like the others said, you NEED to eat veggies. Try incorporating them into foods you already eat, and it won't be such a shock. Put green pepper, mushrooms, onions, whatever into your scrambled eggs. Mix in celery with your tuna fish. Put lettuce, tomato on your turkey burger. 3 cups a day is NOT a lot and really, on induction, I ate every cup I was allowed!

As tough as it is, I think you need to give up the caffiene--and this is coming from a girl who should have bought stock in Diet Dr. Pepper she drank so much! For me, caffiene was a tougher addiction to give up than carbs. I went through withdrawal, I fantasized about drinking a can of it, I was grumpy and irritable. BUT, when it finally got out of my system and I began drinking JUST water, and more than 64oz. it was like night and day! I wasn't grumpy, my skin was smooth, I had more energy and NO energy "crashes."

Other than that, your meat choices look fine (as long as you're not eating that bacon every single day). Make sure you're eating enough fat--a pat of butter or bit of olive oil should be enough to keep your ratios in check. Fat also keeps you satisfied.

            Another angel! Hello there!

Definately agree with what everyone else has said, you've got the meat side down right just need to add in ur veggies. Have a salad with ur tuna and add veggies to ur evening meals. Pick something from the list that you list or want to try.

I know first hand that what Brook said above is true!!! I can't believe it, because I NEVER ate veggies (unless battered and deep fried) before this WOE and now I look forward to them!!!
