Ok, I really need help making a menu.

I could use some help here, ideas, tips, what have you. I think making a menu will help me stick with things better, not to mention making sure there's always food in the house. (Usually too much month at the end of the money)

I make a menu every week, but there is not pattern to it. I've never been one of those people who have 12-14 dishes they usually make and replay them through the month. In fact, my family has complained that by the time I get around to fixing someone's "favorite" again they've forgotten it was a favorite! It might get made twice a year. Seriously. But, once I've tried a recipe, I mark it as a keeper, or tried and true. If we didn't care for it, I delete it out of my Mastercook.

So, each week I figure out 7 dinners, then lunches and breakfasts. Snacks, too. I am a SAHM/homeschooling mom of one and I usually cook 3 hot meals a day. Pretty much everything we eat (at least me and ds - dh eats out during the week often) comes out of my kitchen.

One frequent breakfast is I take a square slice of deli cheddar cheese (vs. processed Kraft type stuff) and stick it on a saucer. Then I fry one egg on one side of my skillet and slightly brown two thin slices of Canadian Bacon on the other side. Put the hot bacon on top of the cheese, put the egg on top of it all.

    Now, that is yummy!

An easy lunch I'll keep on hand for when I don't want to cook a hot lunch: I take a little thicker than deli sliced turkey, ham, roast beef or whatever meat looked good to me, top it with a slice of Lorraine Swiss, spread mayo over it, maybe plunk on a slice or two of tomato (that makes them really messy, though), roll it up and eat. I have rolled the whole thing in a whole lettuce leaf, but its fine without it. My almost 8 year old requests this often.

Oh, and I'm really careful what kind of deli meat I buy. Watch out for carbs and sugars! I've asked to see the labels on what I buy to make sure of what they've used in cooking it.

Have fun planning. I'd never make it if I didn't plan my meals! I don't assign a day when I'm going to cook something. I have a list of what dishes I have the supplies on hand to make, then cross them off my list as I make them. I've done this for years. If I don't my grocery bill is much higher -- and its already too high!

      Thanks.
I've been looking for a "freebie" menu maker, but haven't had any luck so far.

Thanks. I love the site. Been there before, but lost the link to it. Thanks for posting it. She has some amazing recipes there.
