Does anyone know of a sports drink like Gatorade or Powerade that is sugar free but has the minerals, etc.. that these drinks have. I've been advised by my Dr. to drink a gatorade daily because my electrolytes keep dropping.

Re: Any sugar free sports drinks out there?
Sports drinks allegedly 'replenish' minerals and provide enough carbohydrate to aid in cellular recovery after a stressful event (like exercise). Removing the carbohydrate portion, more or less defeats that purpose.Originally posted by Quitstretchin'Does anyone know of a sports drink like Gatorade or Powerade that is sugar free but has the minerals, etc.. that these drinks have. You might want to ask your physician about which specific electrolytes keep dropping with you. It might be a sign of a more serious medical problem.~Megs~

Re: Any sugar free sports drinks out there?
I would imagine that you would be able to get one in the US, I'm sure I have heard Betty (TTDriver) mention one....
They just came out with an enhanced water here, I haven't tried it yet but will. I like the fact there are no sweeteners. I'm sure there is something similar down there.
Waterworks!
Working to energize and re-hydrate the body while restoring lost minerals, Life Brand Enhanced H2O Electrolyte Water is packed with essential minerals like Calcium Chloride, Potassium Bicarbonate and Magnesium Chloride making it the perfect fit for active and athletic lifestyles. Who wouldn’t drink to that?

Re: Any sugar free sports drinks out there?
Thanks...
I went to Propel's website but had a hard time finding the nutrional info or percentages of suppliments/vitamins that are in their water. I will be going to the store, so I will check when I get there.
As far as the electrolytes...I keep losing potassium and magnesium and iron.....

Spoke too soon....I went to the "Frequent Q& A" section and found this....
How many calories does Propel contain? Only 10 calories per eight ounces.
How much carbohydrate is in Propel? Propel has a little more than one percent (1.2%) carbohydrates, or two grams per eight ounces.
It doesn't say what the carbs or 10 calories are from though.

3 carbs, no fat, no protein, 10 cals.
If you persistently lose potassium, magnesium and iron, you might want to ask your doctor to look into possible medical reasons for that, rather than blow it off and advising you to use sports drinks.~Megs~

Re: Any sugar free sports drinks out there?
Are you taking potassium and magnesium supplements? In the beginning phases of Atkins you need to supplement with these! If you input your daily intake into a Fitday or Diet Power or something you will see that you are seriously low on those items. This can cause cramping, especially at night. These supplements are recommended for this - and could create the balance you are lacking. As for iron, well that is always a tricky one - for anyone - but by seeing how much of an intake you have you could give your dr. the accurate stats on it.
Just a thought!

Re: Any sugar free sports drinks out there?
Potassium and magnesium are available as inexpensive supplements. If you are eating plenty of dark greens and meat as most do on Atkins, you normally get quite adequate iron in your diet. This is why Atkins recommends a multivitamin without iron. However, if you are having troble absorbing it (possible digestive problem), or are losing excessive amounts (which typically occurs only with blood loss) you should have yourself checked, and may need an iron supplement as well.
One way to make your own electrolyte drink is to make stock. The broth from cooked down bones & other meat trimmings will contain essential minerals. Adding some vinegar during cooking will enhance it further.
I've also used artificial ocean product designed for saltwater aquariums, instead of table salt, to get the trace elements.
Epsom salts supply magnesium, and a pinch or two can be added to your water or other liquid (do NOT take unless fully dissolved; excessive amounts have a laxative effect). A year's supply costs $1-$2.~Susan

Re: Any sugar free sports drinks out there?
Thanks not2late...actually, the loss of electrolytes are due to a Lupus...my Dr. is treating this, but due to different reasons, I can not maintain certain levels of nutrients. The sports drinks is in addition to my normal treatment.Originally posted by not2latehttp://www.calorie-count.com/calories/item/88304.html

Re: Any sugar free sports drinks out there?
If you look at the ingredients, both propel and powerade have some sugar in them. Propel has sucrose syrup and powerade option has high fructose corn syrup.
I've had this problem too. I used to like sports drinks before going low carb, but even these alternatives have some sugar in them. :-(
This looks promising:
