  • Cheaters never prosper!!

Yeah, so my best friend comes to visit me this past weekend and of course being the knucklehead that I am, I drank on induction!!! On Friday night, I had at least 4 vodka/tonics. I was craving some nasty carbs afterwards, but I went home and had a chicken breast, four ounces of cream cheese with half a tablespoon of pumpkin puree, a packet of splenda, and a dash of cinammon and went to bed. ( I could have devoured a yummy burrito...but I just stuck with Atkins!) Then came Saturday and we went out again. I had three vodka tonics, 2 glasses of red wine, and two shots of something. (Yes, yes, we partied like it was 1999!!! She is getting married! ) And then here is the cherry on top, I ate three cookies after the we were done at the bar, and I had two pieces of godiva truffles.
So on Sunday, I had to start a clean induction . Oh, and it gets even better, I had a study group that same Sunday at a coffee place. I ordered a decaff with 3 pumps of Da Vinci sugar free syrup. I get the order and start drinking it. It tasted a bit off, and I opened the top of the cup and looked in. It was a LATTE! So here I am again. I don't know if sunday was my induction day one, or if Monday was.
Ugh! And then I have another confession. I have gotten addicted to an induction "friendly" dessert. Whipped cream cheese with the pumpkin puree (as stated above), or whipped cream cheese with half a teaspoon of unsweetened cocoa with a packet of splenda. I realized that I was eating almost 5-6 ozs. of this a night after dinner! I was totally going over my cheese limit. So last night I got rid of all my cream cheese and pumpkin puree. I want to do this without cheese anymore.
So for breakfast today I had 3 scrambled eggs and 3 slices of bacon with 8 ozs. of coffee with 1 tablespoon of heavy cream with a tablet of Stevia. (Is stevia okay to use? and is one tablet = 1 gram of carbs?) I also had 24 ozs. of water so far. I also ran 7 miles this morning to try to get some of the carbs out of my system. How long before you think the alcohol will be burned off?
Please reply and scold me or offer me some advice on the whole cream cheese thing. I love having it for dessert, but I have no control when it comes to portions with that particular food. And remind me not to drink!!!!

    LOL, Conqueso

You *know* where you're going wrong...and that's the first step. Get right back to it. Be careful of those foods that trigger you. Everyone of us have to avoid some food that causes us to fall off the deep end. At least you're not drowning in carbs. You're back here posting. Just do it.

If you can't control your portions with cream cheese you are probably best not to have it at all. I have this problem with many types of nuts.

For the alcohol, you really shouldn't have it on induction as you know. One thing you could have done to lessen the damage is had a diet mix with it. Regular tonic has the same about of sugar as regular pop/soda, and 22g's carbs per 8 ozs. So your mix probably did more sugar rush damage than the godiva chocolates . This is probably why you had the cravings that you did. Alot of people mistakenly think tonic water is low carb..it's not unless it's diet tonic.

Stevia is a very good choice for sweetener, I use it all the time.
